I believe I just read in his book that it's okay, even if it has "natural flavoring"

Says here "essence flavored seltzer - must say no calories and not contain aspartame". Drink up!

A reminder that only plain jane regular water counts towards your water quota. If you need something to spice it up you can squeeze some lemon into it, or a slice of cucumber can freshen it up as well :yes

Seltzer water and club soda are just plain old water with carbonation. They are not soft drinks, don't be fooled by "soda" name. They have no calories and no carbs whatsoever. They are fine to drink anytime. In fact, it's the only water I do drink. I can't stand non-carbonated water. Just buy the kind that has natural flavoring. I buy the Safeway brand but there are others. Check the area of the grocery store where they have tonic water (yuck!) and drink mixes. Stay away from the Orangina kind of carbonated drink. Those are all fruti juice. :yikes

| On Atkins, the only thing that counts towards the daily water requirement is water: spring, tap, filtered or mineral http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ic.php?t=68130 Quote:

I suggest you check the Atkins approved foods list itself. Seltzer water and club soda are WATER. It is ignorant to think that they are not. Check the label and you will see that the only ingredient is water. What do you think is in seltzer water and club soda? I am a Chemist, I know what I'm saying and anyone who has ever taken cheistry knows that selzer water is just carbonated water. There's no sugar, there's no calories, there's nothing in it except water.

Okay I don't want to add fuel to the fire here but I was thinking the same thing: seltzer is just water with carbonation so why wouldn't it be considered? (I was thinking this last week.) I mean, I know what the book says but it's just odd that it wouldn't be considered. Just thinking "What is the science behind it?" you know? IMHO of course.

In the words of Rodney King "Can't we all just get along?" LOL Just read your ingredients and if it says it contains only water I have a feeling you are just fine..... I drink mineral water....lots and lots and lots of it...with lemon and lime slices. I weaned myself off of Diet Coke by drinking it and now sodas taste just plain gross to me.......
