| You could be in ketosis even though it doesn't show on the stix. Ketostix only measure the concentration of excess acetoacetate (one of the three ketones our body makes) spilled over into urine. But in the body acetoacetate can be used for energy, or can be converted into acetone and beta-hydroxybutyrate (the other two ketones), so if there is no excess left to pee, the ketostix won't change color even though you are in ketosis. Are you noticing any of the physical signs of ketosis, such as reduced appetite, thirst, increased energy, different odor of your breath/sweat/urine, different taste in your mouth?

| Georgiana is right on everything! Don't be too paranoid about it. I had the same challenge the last time I went back on plan. It didn't matter what the stick said though, I knew I was in ketosis. There are many physical signs and you can find them all over this board. If you want to get into ketosis even faster, I highly recommend exercise, exercise, exercise. It will help you get there faster as you will deplete your glycogen stores. Keep your fat intake high also. Just do what you know you're supposed to do and the results will come. |

| I have not used stix but I can tell because my appetite changes and sometimes there are changes to my breath and urine. I have done induction a few times and this last time it took 6 days. First time it took four. I agree about the stix - many people will not see stuff on them. Does not matter at all. You will lose weight and be fine

| I use the ketostix just for visual reassurance and it usually takes me 1 to 2 days before i register on the sticks. but Georgiana is right, you can be in ketosis and not register on the sticks at all

| Help - I have been doing induction for five weeks now. Initially i lost a couple of pounds and the stix registered some keytones. Now there is nothing and i am not losing weight in spite of sticking to the induction rules. This is my second time around. Five years ago I stayed in ketosis and lost two stone. What can I do ???? |

| Seagrass as I pointed out in your post in the spotlight. You are not following the rules of induction, so get back to them and drink plenty of water.

| Hi Pinkfeathers, I just started on Monday and when I got my ketostix yesterday it was faint pink. This morning it was darker, in the moderate range. |
