| Welcome to ADBB, Emmy! The carbohydrate content listed on the UK labels represents net carbs. Dietary fibre, when listed, is listed separately. Sugars are not the only net carbs (there is starch, too), which is why you do not count only the grams of sugar. If you check the posts in this thread: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...l-reading.html (Net Carbs, Added Sugar and Label Reading), they explain how (net) carbs are counted in the US and the UK.

I believe that the best way to overcome temptation is not with willpower, which is so often in short supply, but with our brain power, a potentially unlimited resource. Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!" | Hello, Not too bad so far, although I've got a rotten cold so yesterday and today I've had a couple of throat sweets which aren't sugar free and some anadin which has caffeine, but doesn't seem to be causing me cravings. Elizellen, I actually used to be a member of this board about 4 years ago and did lose some weight but fell off the wagon completely! My user name then was Emzina. I'm back and quite honestly raring to go! I've been diagnosed with PCOS since coming off birth control to try for a family. We've been trying to conceive now for 15 months with no success and next week we see the fertility specialist. I kept trying weightwatchers but I was hungry all the time and not shifting anything. All the reports say low carb is the way to lose weight with PCOS, so that's why I'm back!!!! xxx |
