| I'm confused. Why are you only eating a cup of broccoli or spinach? You're supposed to be eating 3 cups of salad veggies or 2 cups of salad veggies + one cup of "other" legal veggie, so you missing out on that isn't about the diet, it's about you not eating what you're supposed to be eating! The shift you're feeling is your body adjusting to ketosis. It's 1000% natural and to be expected. Do a search on the boards here about "Induction Flu" and you'll see it referenced quite a bit, as well as suggestions to help you through it. In today's day and age, it is all but impossible to get all the nutrients you need from what you eat. Our soil is overworked, the food is warehoused/shipped/waxed/treated/frozen/etc etc. What should terrify you isn't eating so naturally (meat/dairy/veggies), what should concern you is what you were eating when you gained weight and how nutritionally devastating it's been. Seriously. Compare what you (or the average adult) eats in a day to what you're eating now (or should be on a proper induction) and it should shock and anger you. Everyone should be taking supplements for the above mentioned reasons. Everyone. Have you read DANDR?

| Oh wow, it's been a while since I read DANDR. I thought it was only 1 cup. Thanks for the update! What did you eat veggie wise when you were on induction? BTW, you look amazing. You're such an inspiration. I've never seen anyone look SOO different after losing weight. |

| The other thing is...induction is meant to last 2 weeks, at which point you will be adding even more veggies in. If you keep on the rungs, it won't be too long before you add dairy and fruit in. I do use supplements but even without them, I think I eat better than I ever have and also think I eat healthier than most of the people I know. |

| You are right Pink, Brook looks absolutely amazing!!! Congratulations Brook. Pink, she is right, make sure you reread the book, I'm reading it every day and am picking up on things I had originally missed. It is 3 cups of salad, and the veges in it should alleviate your concerns. Also make sure you take vitamins. After eating the way I ate for so long, I'm completely comfortable with this eating plan... I feel it is so much healthier than anything I've done before. Drinking water, taking vitamins, getting active, it can't be bad that's for sure. And don't forget, after the 14 day introduction, you will gradually start to add on other foods... more veges, fruit etc. As you read the book all of this will be explained to your satisfaction,. Best Wishes as you continue with this wonderful program. Can't wait to follow your success. Debi

| We are definitely eating more veggies than we did before Atkins, and we always liked veggies! I use FitDay and I can see, per day, what my vitamin and mineral intake is, each day, against the US RDA criteria. (There criteria are very arguable but whatever, it's a graph, I like graphs.) I'm above, and often double, for everything except carb and fibre (which one expects with Atkins), and Vit A, D and E Magnesium Thiamin Manganese This will change with the addition of fruit, nuts, etc but I'm fine with a multi-vitamin for now.

| Do yourself a favor, Pinkfeathers ... read the book, DANDR 2002 and this time read it up through the OWL chapter so you know what happens after the two week induction. Unfortunately, too many people make assumptions about Atkins, as you did, because they are uninformed. Dr. Atkins lists out all the Rules of Induction and the Acceptable Food Lists which will guide you easily and expand your knowledge about Atkins. Make note of the mention in the book about supplements, too.
