| Sorry for your loss, Lodi. ![]() Mini goals help some people. Just don't set deadlines for them (e.g. lose 10 lbs by Oct 10th), because that usually makes this woe a race rather than a journey to a healthier you. Comfort eating is a tricky thing. But if you really need to reach for some food even though you are not hungry, it's still better to go for something low carb. It's the end of the day in Australia, isn't it? What's the plan for tomorrow? Did you think what your menu will be?

| Pau posted a yummy recipe for bacon muffins. I can't find Pau's post, but here is the recipe re-posted by Heidi: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ezes-well.html (Naja Try This It Freezes Well) Frittatas and quiches are also good cold and a slice of them is great for a quick snack/meal. Plus, you get fat, protein and some veggies. Something that requires little or no cooking would be boiled eggs, rolls with roasted beef, cheese and a slice of pickle, cheese crackers, tuna or chicken salad, a 1-oz wedge of cheese like Brie or Camembert...

| Sympathies from me too. Don't be too hard on yourself. You are not a failure. You may have turned to food but you are not a failure. Good thing you are thinking of coming back and are planning ahead. If you like you can start a thread in journals about your daily eating and whatever else. People are pretty good at supporting themselves in journals. There is also an induction challenge of some sort in the STAC (Second Time Around) forum now and I am sure you could jump in there and join the other people working through induction Good luck.

| So sorry for your loss, I know how tough that is. You are not a failure just because you have turned to food, it's called being human, and we all have done it. Everyone in the forums are so helpful and supportive. May I suggest that you do start a thread of your own in the journals.... but rename it with a very positive, uplifting title. "I am a failure" is difficult for you to read I'm sure, and I would think that as soon as you see it, that your spirit would hurt a bit. Try a fun title to uplift yourself... Come visit me sometime... I'd love a buddy too!! Good luck to you, I know you can do this... and we are all here to help!!! Have a great day.

| My thoughts are with you in this tough time. Think of it this way; you were strong/brave enough to post here and reach out for help. That's the first step to being successful. I have complete faith that you will have the strength to move forward and continue your path to being healthy. As a community, we're here to support you no matter what. If you need some one-on-one encouragement, you can always PM me. What are you doing for exercise? Remember, no matter what YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. As long as you have a goal and you are doing things to achieve that goal, failure isn't an option. You recognized your problem and came and sought help, that in itself makes you a SUCCESS. |

| I am very sorry to hear of your loss; But don't lose your integrity too! If you're like me and many other overweight people you're accustomed to turning to food when stressed this is not failure! This is reacting in a way you've probably reacted in the past. Try to make this behavior a thing of the past and since you're quite conscious that this is not a healthy response, turn it around and consciously get back on track, your grandmother would have probably wanted her granndchild to be healthy and strong in her comitments! so continue to mourn, but don't destroy yourself in the process. You can do this! Sometimes i just say to myself - 'no white sugar', and 'no white flour' this is not Atkins by the book but it gets me back on track even if it's not perfect for a few days it gets the sugar /starch crave out of my system and gets me back on the 'by the book' track faster. Good Luck, stay positive about yourself, may wonderful memories of your grandmother serve to srtenghen and support you and your family.
