| I'm not exactly positive but I know alcohol is burned off before anything else. So, your body is not burning fat until all of the alcohol is out of your system. If you remain under 20 carbs, I assume your body will go still be in ketosis and begin to burn fat again. Basically, you are losing time burning alcohol when your body can be burning fat. |

| mmm9986 is right. You can choose to burn fat or alcohol. You don't get to burn both. I cannot stress enough to you the importance of doing a clean induction. That's the only way you're going to be able to accurately measure your metabolic resistance. As for picking a bad time to start the diet...I think most of us would agree...there's never a more perfect time than NOW. I've never regretted starting when I did, during a stressful time, I've only regretted not starting sooner. Reminds me of a refrigerator magnet my mother had when I was a child. It was a cartoon picture of a fat person and the caption said, "I'll diet tomorrow." This is the best time to be on the wagon. Halloween is coming, followed by Thanksgiving and then Christmas and New Year's, assuming these are holidays you celebrate. Imagine the holidays with pictures you're proud of!! Imagine hearing the unending compliments from family and friends. The time is now. Alcohol can wait for Rung 5. |

| >>My birthday along with other recent events has made it nearly impossible to avoid it completely.>> Happy Birthday! Here's a little secret ... you don't (honest) need alcohol for any "event". Here's a phrase, "No, thank you". It's all a choice ... and right now ... for you ... alcohol seems to be making your decisions! >>Any information would be greatly appreciated!>> As Dr. Atkins wrote (and that's the information you should go by), "no alcohol on Induction". Of course, in all honesty ... you wouldn't be the first person who doesn't abide by "the rules of Induction". I guess it's up to you to decide if you want to change your life and be successful with your weight loss (and maintaining those losses) or not. You know the rules, and you're obviously "of age", so the bottom line is you can decide what to do. If you can't give up alcohol for two weeks, maybe you should do some serious thinking about why not.
