| I was down 1.5 by tuesday morning and nothing since. How do I know.. Ketone breath, which imparts a sweetish smell, does not cause bad breath so much as a different breath odor. In any case, this condition is likely to last only as long as you are doing the Induction phase of Atkins. Try drinking more water, and remember this is a great sign you are changing your metabolism, burning fat and just your body letting you know!!! Lipolysis, the process during which your body primarily burns fat as fuel rather than glucose, causes ketosis, which in turn generates ketones, the by-products of fat breakdown. During ketosis, ketones are released in your breath and your urine. As long as you drink enough water, the bad breath caused by ketosis usually lasts only a few weeks. NOPE don't have that. I am trying to make sure that I am eating exactly as I should, this whole fitday thing is really frustrating. I track it on paper and that seems to work so I am just doing it that way until I get the hang of this fit day thing. I was 167 lbs yes but I started cutting things out of what I was eating on Friday before my actual start date. I woke up sunday and was 166 lbs. so if you really want to be spot on, I have lost .5 lbs since sunday when I actually started cause I had a pasta dinner saturday night. I want to do my best and I am getting frustrated yes but this appears to be more with fitday then anything else. The Atkins Diet is a Ketogenic Diet and once your body's two-day supply of glycogen (stored glucose) is gone and your body starts to burn fat, the natural appetite suppressent side effect of lipolysis kicks!!! Believe it or not you may "forget" to eat a meal. But DO NOT do that. Never go six waking hours without eating Nope don't have that...I am hungry!! Increased Energy!!!! Once you have hit ketosis, usually on the third or fourth day you may get a huge burst in energy!!!!! You may also experience a slight light headedness with this and that is a point to remind you to eat your veggies as per the list of acceptable foods and to drink your water! NOPE don't have that either!! Thirst This WOE is a natural diuretic. And what a great thing. Obviously, drinking lots of water is essential (see FAQ on water) Nope mind you I drink 3 litres a day

| >> was down 1.5 by tuesday morning and nothing since.>> Ok. That happens. Not everyone has bad breath. Not everyone spills excess ketones. That's why this being "in ketosis" can be such a "problem". You can be in "it" and simply not know. And ... not everyone is "in it" even after 5 days. >>I am hungry!!>> Then eat. I didn't experience the appetite suppressant until later on.

| >>f you can't get the hang of Fitday,>> It also takes more than one try to "get the hang" of Fitday. Don't give up on it (or Atkins) because you didn't have 100% success the first moment.

| You are not at your carb limit! Take a deep breath ... go back and read my suggestions on how to correct your Fitday. Then ... SUBTRACT the fiber ... and you'll see that you can eat.

| Fluffy, go back into Fitday and update the areas that people have suggested and see what your new carb amount says: Raw Eggs for eggs instead of the omlette option 3 tbsp of vinegar instead of the 3 cups etc, etc You may find that you have some more carb grams to play with after all. If you go a little over 20 g. its not going to throw you out of ketosis...the more important thing at this moment is that you eat something for dinner. Just make sure it is very low in carbs, like tuna with mayo and spices or something similar. Fitday is very helpful in that it will show you, once you get the hang of it if you continue to use it, where you go over, where you could be more careful, etc. I know for myself I was getting salads for lunch and because I was adding in a little sliced onion here and a little shredded carrot there I'd be burning through my carbs in no time. So I cut out the onions and carrots and I had more carbs to eat at dinner. Its a delicate balance but can be done, you just have to give yourself time to have those "oops" days and figure out how to better the next day.

You might find the link below and the quote from DANDR 2002 (from the Acceptable Foods List) useful. What is half and half? Quote:
__________________ "The truth is that temptation lurks everywhere, unless you deny yourself a social and working life and the attendant pleasures of eating out. I believe that the best way to overcome temptation is not with willpower, which is so often in short supply, but with our brain power, a potentially unlimited resource. Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"
