| Sugar is pure evil on this diet...I still avoid it like the plague (6 months in). I found some sugar-free BBQ sauce and make my own at home...it isn't quite as nice as going out, but I know what is in my food and have -70lbs to show for it. No matter what you choose to do in the long run, I would definitely avoid this during induction.

| green beans, broccoli, asparagus, spinach, jicama, summer squash, zucchini, spaghetti squash ---lots of choices. Here's my favorite BBQ recipe for chicken. marinate the chicken for 4-6 hours in 1/2 cider vinegar and 1/2 water. (If you marinate longer it gets too vinegary, less and you don't taste it). Then drain and sprinkle liberally with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, Mrs Dash--whatever combination looks good to you! Grill it slowly and season it again when you flip it. Sometimes if I am in a hurry I will microwave the chicken for about 6-8 minutes befoe seasoning and grilling. Then I know the middle is cooked and 10-15 mins on a low grill is all it needs to taste BBQed |

| Oh, but you don't have to eat salad at all if you don't want salad. All the vegetables on the salad and "other" veggies lists can be cooked. There are 54 veggies on the list, so plenty of choices. You can check not2late's blog for some ideas on how to cook salad veggies: M for Miscellaneous: Re-Post of a Post.

| I just had the shredded chicken sandwich at Famous Daves BBQ. I took the chicken off the bun and ate it solo. There was some kind of marinade on the chicken which tasted good, but it was very thin. I also had a house salad without the croutons. I'm sure there was sugar of some sort on the chicken, but I didn't want to deprive hubby of eating at his favorite restaurant. My weight stayed the same which is normal for eating 'out'... I wouldn't eat it during induction though... |
