I believe that the best way to overcome temptation is not with willpower, which is so often in short supply, but with our brain power, a potentially unlimited resource. Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!" | >>is it true that you should actually be in induction until you reach half of your goal weight? So if I want to lose 100 lbs I would stay in induction until I have lost 50?>> As has been noted, not true at all! Staying on Induction too long is generally counterproductive ... lots of people who are "redoing" Atkins report that one of the reasons they didn't succeed at keeping the weight of was because they stayed on Induction too long, didn't spend enough time on OWL, and thus didn't learn what they needed to learn to succeed at keeping the weight off (maintenance). Learn from their mistakes!

| In the book he does state that if you have a lot of weight to lose extending induction to a month is an option, and some stay on it even longer. I will be on extended induction because I'm not finding it hard or limiting. If you feel too limited and aren't quite thinking you can make it past the two weeks of the rules of induction then it is time to move on regardless, better than falling out of the new way of life all together! |
