Default Cant get below 160 !!!

Does anyone else have a certain weight that you just cant get past???

For me its 160, no matter what i do, i cant get back into the 150's, i would love to see 159 , but it's soooo hard. I got form 183-160 fine, but now i cant loose any more weight,

I was just wondering if anyone else gets stuck at a certain weight??

Join the club...I too am stuck at 160 and have not budged for about two months now. :sadblinky If anything, I've been fluctuating back and forth between 160-162lbs range. I noticed your mini goal is exactly the same as mine too. I would like to get to 150lbs by the beginning of May but at this point it doesn't look too promising. Depressing....

Ive been doing an extended induction and have been somewhat afraid to move to OWL...was supposed to at the beginning of April but I am afraid.

Suggestions for us anyone?

Me Too!

My doctor told me I have a "Set Point" at 160. I weighed 160 all through college and was able to actually get down below 159 right before I got married 15 years ago, but then as soon as the honey moon started, back up I went!

Apparently in my case, my body is comfortable there because I was at that point for quite a few years. THe doctor keeps telling me that I will have to increase my exercise to get past that point. Now I just need to get back there! 13 pounds to go!

Okay throw those scale numbers out the window.

Now have you checked your body fat% to see if you are actually at a healthy one for you? I know I was fixated on 164 pounds cause the BMI and the height weight carts said that was the number I needed. And I stuggled and struggled to get below 168. My doctor said i could stop losing and I brushed him off cause I had to get there.

Well i was doing the body fat calculation for somebody who knew their lean mass and figured since i'd had mine done I'd check mine too to see how close I was. Well you could have knocked me over I was at 14.9% and underweight for a jock. I was like but I can see the fat right here and here and here.

But you know what it don't matter if you can see the fat cause if you added muscle weight to your frame coming back down from your previous time weighting this much you are healtheir now them then along with actually smaller in clothes size.

SO have you ladies had your body fat measured at the gym or doc s office? you can get them done at many free healthfairs too. You can get a rough estimate on the mybody.com site too based on your measurement. See if you aren't already in a healthy range.

CarbCop35 move to OWL it is only 80 cals worth of induction vegies carbs it would take you 42 days to gain any fat weight if it was more then you could handle make the move. you will not regret it.

Set points are not a real thing. if you had them you would have one oin the way up too. You picked your food intake on your Atkins and based on your lifestyle it is the amount your body needs to stay at that weight it currently isn't moving from. you can either as your doc said increase your lifestyle ativities with more active events like more intense or longer duration exercise or you could cut your caloric intake. However if you cut your caloric intake your body will adapt to that by slowing you down to meet that level of fuel as we are very good at adapting to fit our fuel needs and availible fuel.

Happy low carbing to all 3 of you.

I wish I could.. But unfortunately I cannot. I am being monitored very closely for PCOS/Inuslin Resistance, and My goal weight is where my Doctor and nutrition team want me to be for my health. Body fat testing will do nothing for a pre-diabetic with my family history I wish it did! It would make life a lot easier! :sadblinky

The scale is also a big motivator to me. I weigh everyday to keep me on track when I am working hard core (Such as I am now) I had a Hysterectomy back in October which cause a surge in my insulin (long story) and that is where my 19 pounds came back on.

Actually they are and I did on my way up! :nod 191 was also a set point. I was there for 3.5 years before getting pregnant. Then on the way down, I got stuck there for 8 weeks, while increasing and adding variety to my exercise routine and adhering stricktly to OWL and trying all sorts of carbs. It took a while and lots of hard work to find the winning combination to break through it.

Yarnqueen talk to your team and discuss your body fat and yes it is body fat not total body weight that diabetic, PCOS and any other doctor is actually talking about when telling you to lose weight for them. It you were 200 pounds rock hard 10% body fat they would not be telling you to lose weight. they have determined based on your current build what they think you should weigh for your best health.

If you increase you exercise and add lean body tissue on your Atkins like everybody does that does it correctly you will arrive at a higher healtheir weight then if you did a different diet and didn't exercise. But doing Atkins the way Dr Atkins intended with the resisitance and aerobic exercise mandatory and the higher then normal protein intake we get that extra len body mass as we lose our fat mass. UConn did a study on normal weight fellows who didn't exercise and ask them to eat Atkins maintnenance and compared them to a group of fellows not exercising eating high carb lowfat maitnenance diets. the Atkins fellows had an increase in lean body mass and a decrease in fat mass over a 6 week time frame.
