Default day 3

Just noticed I posted this in the wrong section... so here it is in the right section

Hello everyone! I am just at the beginning of day 3 and was so tired yesterday I could not keep my eyes open... is this normal?? Food wise I am doing well, feels great to still eat but be on a "diet"
One question though - for my daily veggie intake I have been primarily eating spinach salads. I just finished reading on the forum that I should be limiting spinach to one cup a day as it is in the list of veggies higher in carbs but it is .2 / cup, same as romaine lettuce which was in the other list that said I could have 2-3 cups / day. Is there a reason for this?

Missing my coffee, decaf not cutting it !!

Hi LucyLoo... Welcome. I am also on day 3. I have been feeling alot better. I don't feel bloated like I did this weekend. I don't feel as hungry. I have to force myself to eat breakfast, before I use to be hungry the moment i woke up. But I ahve been feeling so sleepy by 11 pm, before I was still up at 1am. As for the spinach v. romaine.. I'm not sure.... sorry. But I would like to know as well cuz I love spinach. I do notice I am alot more thirstier now and water is quenching. Good luck again. Wishing you success!!!

Thanks Lady_buttmunch

No one has replied yet but as I think about the spinach I wonder if it's because it's so high in iron......

I felt really tired for the first few days...it passes!
I'm a "by the book" kinda person...so I limited my veggies as specified in DANDR. Once your 14-day induction is up, you can move to OWL Rung 1 and add more spinach then if you'd like.

Hi Lucy
Welcome to our international family of losers
Many people feel a bit washed out the first few days, but most start to feel better within a week, so here's hoping you do too

I am glad to hear you are enjoying the luxurious food choices our way of eating allows. somethimes when I am eating my eggs, bacon and mushrooms with a couple of pieces of flax bread I wonder 'am I really on a diet??!?!'

Some people think this might be an oversight on Dr Atkins part, as in the older books spinach was listed as one to measure cooked, so a cup of cooked spinach would have many more carbs than one of raw spinach.

However - as we can't ask him to clarify this, I agree with Julie and suggest keeping spinach down to max one cup raw per day the first 2 weeks then increasing it if you like afterwards by moving straight to the first level/rung of OWL.

5 net carbs of spinach is a large salad (11.5 cups according to fitday.com) and would make a hearty serving cooked, so that makes it a good choice for your first OWL addition. I am not saying add a 11.5 cup salad, but maybe add a 3 cup salad serving of spinach plus some other veggies to make up the 5 net carbs

And if you are a veggie lover you can stay on that OWL rung and add more veggies before climbing on up the OWL carbohydrate ladder.

Some people even stay on the first OWL rung a long time, increasing their veggies to find their CCLL before swapping out some of the servings when adding the other rung foods. This helps them know how many carbs they can eat and still lose weight and concentrate on working out how the other rungs foods affect them.
