Default 2nd week of induction...?

Hi,
I started induction 3 weeks ago. I measured myself after the first week, and I lost a whopping 12 pounds! Obviously, I was extremely excited about this. However, when I weighed myself after the second week, I had only lost another half a pound. I'm starting to think that the initial 12 pounds was just water weight due to the diuretic effect of atkins.
Don't get me wrong; it's great to know I can lose 12 pounds that easily, but losing 1/2-1 pound a week is a little less than I had hoped for. I decided to stay on induction for another week, and will be weighing myself again this sunday. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Additional Info:
- My diet didn't change from week 1 to week 2
- I never cheated
- I do resistance training and cardio 5 times a week
- I drink way more than 8 glasses of water a day
- Not on any meds

Let me know if anyone has any insight.
Thanks!

It is not uncommon to lose less in the second week. There will be weeks when you lose nothing, and even weeks when you gain weight.

Congrats for the 12+ lbs lost!

I don't think this is the best strategy. 12.5 lbs is over 25% of the weight you needed to lose when you started and shows that you have a low metabolic resistance. You also don't have a lot of weight left to lose. It is better to move to OWL, so that you have time to progress through OWL.

Very often, adding more vegetables helps people weight lose better.

If you want you can post a menu and we can take a look. Include quantities and net carbs for every food, total calories, and total grams of fat, protein, carbohydrate and dietary fiber.

How much water are you drinking per day?

Hi there in the 1st week I lost 7lbs and 2nd week only 2 so it doesnt matter dont think of numbers now Im losing around 2lb a week which Im fine with. The first 2 weeks will show the highest weight loss as its induction then it does slow down but dont worry thats normal we all experience it.

Thanks G, I appreciate it. I guess I'll move to OWL and add some more veggies. Below is a typical day for me.

- 5 pieces bacon (225 cal, 0 carb)
- 15 olives (75 cal, 0 carb)
- salad (2-3 cups lettuce, ranch dressing and bacon bits) (? cal, 10 carb)
- hamburger patty w/ slice of cheese (370 cal, 0 carb)
- 1 oz of cheese (70 cal, 0 carb)
- 3 eggs (210 cal, 0 carb)
- 4 pieces bacon (180 cal, 0 carb)

The 0 carb refers to a single serving, so if I assume that a single serving has .5 g of carbs, the zero might turn out to be a one or 1.5. I figure in this way, I'm getting around 20 grams a day with the salad plus all the other hidden carbs not on the nutrition info.
I don't measure out how much water I drink, but it's probably around a gallon. I've always drunk a ton of water; it didn't really change at all since I started Atkins.

You need more veggie net carbs than what is found in 2-3 cups of lettuce. What is this, iceberg lettuce or romaine? In any case, it's less than 3 net carbs. The ranch dressing maybe has another 2 carbs. And that leaves 5 carbs for the bacon bits. Did you check the ingredients in those bacon bits?

Also, most of your net carbs (more than half) should come from vegetables. With only 3 cups of lettuce, this is not happening. There are 55 vegetables on the Acceptable Foods List --- plenty to choose from!

On Atkins, you need to know how many carbs you are eating. Assuming doesn't really work. Just because something has 0 carbs listed on the label, it does not mean it has 0.5; take olive oil, for example --- the label says 0 carbs, and it has 0 carbs.

You should look up the foods in the USDA database: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/
