And you want to eat the whole egg. The egg yolk is a great source of nutrients. In fact, it is also a source of choline, which is a molecule capable of lowering bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol. One other chemical in egg yolks is lutein, which is one of the two carotenoids that give yolks their yellow color. Although lutein is also found in leafy vegetables like spinach, the body seems to absorb it better from eggs. You can read here about some of the possible benefits of lutein: Lutein: Are You Getting Enough of This Anti-Aging Antioxidant Powerhouse? The problem with eating too many eggs is that you might get bored. Did you check Linda's web page for recipes: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home? Here are two others: Atkins Food and Recipes - Atkins Diet LowCarbRecipeBox : Low Carb Recipe Box Quote:

| I once had trouble staying in ketosis when I drank "flavored coffee" from whole beans ... think the flavor had some sugar lurking in there somewhere. I do fine on regular whole bean or plain coffee with cream. |

| Just wanted to say congratulations to you Tracey. Way to work it. And don't be afraid of eggs. If you really like eggs work it. Cannot go wrong with eggs on this diet. The scientists that came up with that egg and cholesterol myth were dorks. It has been disproven but for some reason it is harder to reverse this myth than it was to establish it. You are familar with Linda's low carb site yes Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home Also check out this thread with induction recipes. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...n-recipes.html (Never ending induction recipes) (Never ending induction recipes) |

| <The scientists that came up with that egg and cholesterol myth were dorks> made me giggle lol.i was a little worried about the yolk because i have high blood pressure ( i know eggs done affect blood pressure), which i am takings meds for, and my mother actually does have cholesterol problems which she controls through diet. so the genetics issue is actually the issue for me. i eat probably 5 boiled eggs throughout the day, these are getting me through the day at work. i bought a box of the pre-boiled ones from costco (nothing added, no preservatives, just the eggs), and i pop one in the microwave for 20 seconds, and voila..yummy yummy egg!! I have been looking on the other sites for recipes, which are fantastic. im thinking of the macafoni and cheese tonight. i just find my time very restricted. i go to physio twice a week for my shoulder (torn rotator cuff, damaged disk in my neck) because of an accident i had in april (stupid drunk driver ran a red light and hit my drivers side door ). thanks for the help ladies, im off to the store on my lunch hour to buy some whipping cream, zuchini to make chips, and some pork rinds have a great day!!! |

| I couldnt eat that many eggs without getting bored. Its a good idea to add variety to keep you from lapsing, as well as giving you a variety of nutrients. Some of the stuff I have made so far: broccoli, cauliflower soup with cream (can be reheated in microwave but remember to count the veggie carbs). Can be made in batches and frozen. stir fry cabbage and pork in olive oil, with thin slices of chorizo. Add garlic and wholegrain mustard for flavour (or experiment). turkey mince with veggies (i have red pepper and spring onion). Again you could freeze a portion. Dont forget you can have sugar free jelly (jello) and cream as a nice easy dessert. Fitday.com is good for keeping track of carbs, fat etc. I put all my food into that so I know I'm not going over. |

| change of plans for today's menu. egg for breakfast lunch i had 8 turkey meatballs 3g carb/4 meatballs... 0 fibre 0 sugars..i think from reading the label the carbs were from the meat. just read the ingredients, there may be trace wheat crumbs and textured soya flour...so i wont have those again ( i think it's like the may contain nuts warnings, probably processed in a factory that uses soya and wheat).. i had a caesar salad..dressing had 1 gram of carbs...but i only used 1/2 of the package, so it only equaled .5 carbs. I bought whipping cream, REAL butter, sugar free jello… hot dogs with 1g carb, there is a hot dog recipe on linda’s site ( I think it’s linda’s site)…that is induction friendly hot dog dish..woohooo…all beef hot dog..without the fillers… I would assume hot dogs aren’t allowed too often though. Tonight, im having the big mac in a bowl from linda’s site… I am going to get the fitday.com going tonight...i've heard about it from enough of you on the site...so off i go I’m truly like a kid in a candy shop today!!! |

| i get it now.. it was an honest mistake, i actually did think that there were a certain amount of carbs in meat...and thought the 3 carbs were from the meat... i guess i'll give those to the kids. and i know it's alot from non vegetables, but i thought that since i dont get near the 20 grams im allowed i could get it from the meat...but that theory is out the window because it's absolutely WRONG!!! lol Thanks the hot dogs i got just for something different if im feeling like "cheating" one night but dont want to screw up. i see on the lsit that it says to be aware of processsed meat that it may be cured with sugar... but these have beef, and that was it on the ingredient list. i copied nutrion info below. From personal experience and from what I have seen in the Veggie Challenge, many people lose weight better when their carbs are coming from vegetables rather than from other foods. So it is not only the number of net carbs that is important, but also about the source of these carbs. Quote:
There must be other ingredients! Are these the ones you have: Maple Leaf Top Dogs All Beef Wieners | Maple Leaf | Hot Dogs | Bacon and Hot Dogs | Meat and Poultry | Butcher | Maple Leaf Foods?
