| >> I have read atkins for life, but not the diet revolution (I am in the UK>> DANDR is available for sale in the UK ... and used book shops will most likely have it, too. Atkins for Life is aimed at those doing maintenance or for those who don't need to lose weight. Since you don't have much weight to lose, your rate of loss will be slow. Also ... your calories are pretty inconsistent ... aiming for consistency there is a good plan. How much water are you drinking?

| @ atkins gal I know Atkins for life isnt the same as the diet book. I read it when my husbands mother went on atkins and, thinking it was unhealthy, read it to spite her I guess. About 10 pages in I was a convert. I found this board shortly after. The rules for induction are pretty thoroughly laid out here. I don't have the money to buy new books at the moment. I have a 500 ml water bottle, I refill it 7-8 or sometimes more times a day. I also keep one by my bed which I'll get about 1/2 way through during any given night. So probably 4 litres a day. My calories are high on days I force them to be high. I'm fully satiated at 1,200 but I read you shouldn't dip below your BMR because that can cause you to stall. also I've been trying to drizzle rapeseed oil over my dishes to make my meals less protien dominant. @ georgiana They are net carbs (UK labels don't even list fiber as carbs) I eat alot of tofu and TVP, so that's got carbs in it. I was 120 before I started uni, I was 155 by the end of first year. I stayed about that weight +/- 5 lbs over 4 years until I got married, when I dropped down to 145. |

| Twister, Well, first welcome!! Secondly, I agree with Georgiana that you don't have a substantial amount to lose so it will come off slower than most. I believe the expected rate is abour 1-2% of the total weight to lose will come off during Induction, so if you're looking to lose about 20 pounds you might lose around .4 pounds. What is more important during induction is that you are retraining your body to burn fat and create less cravings, etc. Thirdly, tofu is made from soy and that is not allowed until you are a few rungs into OWL. No tofu on Induction. I've made that mistake. Try adding in more veggies, get up to the full 3 cups recommended and you may see those numbers drop quicker..many do. Finish out your full 14 days of Induction and then I would recommend going into OWL since you have a small amount to lose. As for the book, not sure if they have this in the UK but in the US there are cities that have FreeCycle sites on Yahoo where people can donate items they don't want to people who want them and can request items that others can donate (got my fake christmas tree free this way) and you could ask for the book through that. Or, again if they have it in the UK, you could try a source like www.paperbookswap.com where you can post old paperbacks and swap with others. That's how I got my copy of the book. There are ways to get them if you think creatively. I think it would prove ENORMOUSLY helpful to have the book as you go through the OWL rungs. Keep on drinking that water, walking, and eating right and it WILL happen hun! Promise!

| >>I don't have the money to buy new books at the moment.>> You don't have to buy it new. I'm sure you can find a copy at a used book shop. Is there an Oxfam store by you? >> have a 500 ml water bottle, I refill it 7-8 or sometimes more times a day.>> If it's a disposable bottle, that's not safe.

| Because the plastic in it wasn't designed for reuse ... and chemicals leach into the water. Best to buy a bottle designed for reuse. http://environment.about.com/od/heal...ic_bottles.htm
