| >>does normal whipping cream without dextrose have carbs?>> Yes, it does have carbs. It has 6.6 net carbs per cup, that's 0.4125 net carbs per Tbs.

| Both brands (Neilson and Beatrice) have dextrose in them, I have Beatrice in the refrigerator. But since the carb count is "zero" per tablespoon, the dextrose must = less than 1 gram of carb. As I said before, it hasn't been a problem for the 3 of us, and I'd rather use it, (dextrose or not) than anything with aspartame. I'm even cutting back on Splenda! But I do love my cream in my coffee, lol. Mind you, I can drink my coffee black, but then I'd feel like I'm depriving myself, like I felt on WW....so, I'll stick with my cream Suzanne

| i wonder J if you read your carton, does it list sugar and maybe it's an oversight like we made because the name was extremely misleading? from online it looks like my neilson has 1g sugar, so i will have to check another store for beatrice since it listed 0 carbs... im too lazy to walk downstairs to confirm that, however i am 99% sure that it does have 1 carb. |

| >>i wonder J if you read your carton>> I'm not in Canada, so reading my carton doesn't help with your problem! I can assure you that it does not list sugar though! Just because the nutrition panel says 1 gram sugar doesn't mean there's added sugar. One has to read the list of ingredients for that. After all, cream contains lactose, which is a natural sugar. >>check another store for beatrice since it listed 0 carbs>> But it doesn't have 0 carbs ... it's just the label saying that. Cream has 6.6 net carbs per cup.

| Do you have anything called double cream in Canada? That's what we call heavy cream here. It is just cream that naturally whips up thick - no additives. As for mayonnaise, if like me you are a sugar addict or have sugar cravings, it might be better to find a brand that has no sugar in the ingredients list at all. I would think you could find one in health food stores or online. Look for organic brands, as they are more likely to be sugar and additive free, but you still probably will have to check out several. We have only one here in the UK that I know of (Kite). As J. said, there is a HUGE difference between having sugars in the ingredients list (this means some kind of sugar has been added to the product, a no-no on Atkins) and having sugars listed in the nutritional information panel where you are going to see all the natural sugars which are in, for example, all vegetables and dairy products (this is OK if the ingredients are all allowed).

| morning, no, we dont have double cream here, that i have seen anyway. I was thinking that maybe the beatrice has the dextrose further down on the list than neilson. That's what i meant by looking for the other brand, so i could read the list. I'm thinking of checking the aerosol can as i said, and if that still contains a form of sugar, then i'll just skip the cream...actually...this whole discussion has scarred whipping cream in my brain, so i dont want it anymore lol. would be nice to mix with water for a glass of milk though. i never drink near enough milk, take calcium supplements, and now that i cant have it im craving it like crazy..just the fresh and cold taste!! |

| i drink a ton of water, we have a water cooler at the house, and we empty it every 2 days! my work got us all glasses that have a counter on the bottom so we can keep track of our water intake and i am sure to drink at least 7 glasses before i even leave work during the day. i put lime in it sometimes, and i put lemon sometimes, but i really like the taste of water. cold soup...not so sure i'd like it, what kind do you suggest?? because i cant even make a cream soup now because my whipping cream has dextrose in it. i made a musroom soup a while ago with cauliflower puree instead of cream to give it a creamy texture, i wouldnt be able to drink that cold..it would gag me. |
