Default college food is sneaky..

ok i'm on day 3 of induction so far, and yesterday for breakfast i had 2 boiled eggs and 2 slices of boars head bacon (it has nitrates and all that) and today i had 2 pieces of pork sausage from my cafeteria at school with 2 boiled eggs. im worried i might have hindered induction already, i have a feeling i wont eat sausage anymore, but about bacon..is there any thats sugar/nitrate free? or is bacon safe for me like once or twice a week? thank you! :wave

hi and welcome.

You can always call the dietician at your cafeteria and ask what is in the sausage--have her read the nutritional info and the ingredients to you. Just tell her you are on a diet where you cannot have added sugars, grains and grain products.

Default

And you didnt mention any veggies!
You should be having 2 cups from the 2-cup list and one cup from the 1-cup list (or an extra cup from the 1-cup list) spaced throughout the day to help keep your blood sugars on an even keel.

As for the bacon and sausage you do need to read the ingredients on the labels or ask what additives or fillers are in them.

I think people have said here that boar's head do make a bacon that is OK for induction but you will have to check your particular one.
