Default Found The Courage To Come Back After My Failure

Hello everyone,

Last year I'd done the strict 14 day induction and succeeded!! I'd lost approx. 25 lbs. and I was the happiest I'd been in years.

I received a great amount of support from this forum and many of its members and I know I couldn't have done it without you.

Then it happened. :no

Someone who was supposed to be my friend continued to tempt me with my favorite food addiction - sugar. I resisted and began to feel resentful that I was not getting the support in my reality away from the forums. Many times I thought about coming here and talking about it, but felt like you didn't need my whining. I felt alone.

I fell and fell hard. All it took for me to derail any and all progress made was one time of breaking down.

I became depressed, gained the weight back and never logged back in because I was ashamed of myself.

Well, I'm tired of being ashamed. I'm tired of being overweight.

It took a lot for me to get here again.

Now, with no negative influences (supposed friend is history), I should be able to get back on track and stay the course.

I'm thinking it should be a little easier the second time around.

I'm sorry the post was so long and thank you for your time. Here I go....!! ha

hey foodadict!

:clapping well done for taking the first step and coming back to ha . I sympathise with you a lot as this is my Day 3 of induction but for the lasy 6 weeks ive been trying not to cheat, but i just got tempted, and then that was it!! the depresison starts, the insecurites get worse and we feel bad and lonley about it. My advice to you, is to stick with ha it is such a big support system, and from now on will be your new family who you can talk about anything with.If i ever feel down or blue or just want to have some girlie chats i go to the "womens" forum.it very open honest, friendly and there so many other women like me and you there. You can share you happiness and your sadness. ha is the whole package! I turley believe that if it wasnt for ha then i could not have the courage to start this diet, as my family and friends are not vry supportive. But you deserve to feel good, and you are going in the right direction if you keep with us :nod
There will not be one person on ha that does not have some of the feelings you have, and by that i mean it in the best of respects, as you can talk to peolpe and find out how they coped.Look at the success storeis for motivation, and start looking at old pictures when you felt slimmer and looked healther.I know you can do it, it not easy, but nothing in life is.All you need to do is "believe in yourself" quoted from our peter heee!

Thank you very much for your kind and wise words. I will be ok because I'm here now and surrounded by wonderful people like you. :nod

By the way, my weight counter at the bottom is off, but I'll leave it as it is to encourage me to get back there again, where I was once upon a time.

Thanks again! :wave

Hi FoodAddict, :wave

Welcome back!

It takes courage to get back, brush yourself off and start over so congratulations on taking this important step.

It's interesting to see the word "addict" as part of your screen name for a number of reasons. Primarily I think you've faced up to being a food addict and understand what it means to be an addict and how our addictions can control us. How they can destroy our lives by making it so easy to make the wrong choices.

From my own experience as a recovering addict on many fronts, from alcohol, drugs, cigarettes and food, I know what my triggers are and have learned how to deal with them without falling off the wagon ~ now hopefully you have too.

Remember, if you want excuses to feed the addict in you there will never be a shortage of them ~ ever.

Be it a friend who betrays you, a miserable job that you hate, some horrible traumatic experience these things are a part of life for all of us. And they are never, ever and excuse to pick up your drug of choice (which in your case is food) and start the process of killing yourself all over again.

So I think it's critical that you understand and accept that your friend had little to do with the choice you made, unless they held a gun to your head and force fed you the choice was entirely, 100% yours.

But if you learned something from this experience, if it's made you wiser and more powerful than it was worth it ~ because that means you'll never repeat it.

In many ways, keeping addictions in check is like a game of chess, or a battle. You always need to think ahead, you need a strategy in place to protect and save yourself. It's essential.

If you have that, and it sounds like you do and if you have the determination to succeed, you will.

So stay the course, if you don't have the current 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution pick up a copy ASAP (without the book long term success on Atkins is impossible)

Use it as your blue print, a road map to success and those profound changes you experienced last year, you'll enjoy once again.

Peter ha

welcome back!

I hope you have either dropped that "friend" or have had a Dr Phil take with her about what she did and how it makes you feel and recruited her to be a part of your Atkins support network or hit the highway until she can support you in your efforts to become healthier and smaller.

Welcome back you are just in time to join many of our exercise challenges so check those out too while you are looking over all the board changes since your last vist we have remodeled and expanded.

Happy l9ow carbing.

Thank you all so very much for the words of encouragement and welcome!! :hug

I'm definitely back!!! I exercised today too for the first time in quite a long time. The more time I spend logging-in and looking around, the more excited I get. I did a 1 hour workout on my (Tony Little's) Gazelle! Maybe I should type that in into the exercise challenge forum. :icondance Ooh, I love these smilies.
