    Cool Help! To much sodium!

    • Help! Last night my husband pointed out that I salt everything I eat and then I salt it again. He's completely right and I didn't even realize I was sabatoging myself. I drink half my body weight (225lbs) in water with no problem, but with so much added salt in my diet I feel bloated and haven't been losing weight or inches in about a week. I don't have a clue as to how much sodium I consume, but I know it's out of control and not healthy. I want to start closely monitering my salt intake. Can anyone give me a guideline on how much salt should be consumed? I definatly want to get this under control.

First off, stop salting food at the table.

Then stop salting food when you cook.

    It's a process.

Before you know it ... you'll have cut down dramatically.

You should consume less than 1 teaspoon per day, according to the USDA.

2400mg of sodium assuming you are healthy. Most sodium in the diet comes from processed foods and if your body was eatting them before you could have a low sodium issue now.
Salting during cooking and at the table accounts for less then 15% of the sodium intake ofr folk eating processewd foods.

If your potassium food choices are low you could switch to one of those salt sub and use that at the table and in cooking.

we need sodium for our nervous system to function muscles to contract and relax and for fluid balance so don't give it up entirely unless you are buy protein sources that have been injected with a salt solution or canned with salt veggies

“Remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it” (1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT).
Y'all realize that means if I pig out and claim I couldn't resist I just called God a liar.
