    Default How do you know your in ketosis?less than 20 grams a day and your in ketosis?

    From what I read those ketosis sticks arent accurate. So how do I know Im in ketosis. I do know for last week and half I havent gone over 20 grams of carbs a day. Although on occasion I have eaten stuff with sugar. I had 2 hot dogs a couple days ago and yesterday I nuked a few meatballs that ingredients said it had sugar. And i had some frozen berries. About a handful. Maybe i have unrealistic expectations. I guess I thought the weight would just melt off..lol..

    Why are you deliberately eating things that aren't allowed on Induction?

    You "know" you're in ketosis when you're losing weight. There are other symptoms, too, though many people have none.

    And it's 20 NET carbs. And, quality matters, too.

    All the sticks tell you is if you're spilling any excess ketones. At 20 net carbs, any body is more than likely to be in ketosis, whether or not you spill any excess ketones.

    Many people can tell they are in ketosis by a metallic taste in their mouth. There is a full list of "symptoms" in the book.

    I believe that I am in ketosis, I can't sleep at all. I lay awake all night and when I do fall asleep I feel I am still awake. I have so much energy.

    I always find that ketosis lowers my appetite some and then I know I am in it.

    I started the plan 12 days ago and thought I was in Ketosis (which I probably was since I was losing weight) but didn't notice any real effects until yesterday. Appetite dropped off noticably, more energy the past 2 or 3 days, and I got that 'metallic' breath thing going on now. The ketosis test strip had me somewhere between 15 and 40 (not sure what that means.)

    I tried ketosis strips last year when I tried Atkins for the first time... but after about a few months I put them right up there with reading my weather rope... if I looked outside and the rope was wet... it was raining... and if I looked at the ketosis strip and it was wet... I was hydrated. I never understood the strip beyond that... they didn't seem to be consistent.... but my loss of weight and inches were... and that's all that mattered.
