| GOOD LUCK I was in the same boat as you and I have a 3 yr old as well. The hard thing is not eating what they eat even though it looks soooooooo good. You can do it. Pam

| Brace yourself and FOCUS ! The toughest part of Atkins for most of us is the Induction period, especially the first few days as you come off previous addictions. Try and stay away from people eating your favourite foods because sometimes the smell is enough to drive you crazy. After ketosis kicks in and you start bouncing off the wall because you have so much more energy, and you get used to being more satiated because of the increased fats/reduced carbs in your meal, you will find your appetite is naturally supressed. I always find that just after I cheated, I feel sick and bloated... it's enough to make me think twice about cheating. So hang in there - your cravings will pass, and you will feel the better for it! Good luck and you know we're all here to support you!

| If you stick with Atkins, stay true to induction and never cheat, your taste preferences will change and you will no longer crave frankenfoods like fries and ice cream. People will eat that junk in front of you and you won't even care because you will be loving and craving your own healthy food. I know it sounds unlikely, I would not have believed it myself, but it happened for me and it can happen for you too. :hug |

| I know that mostly I don't crave whilst I'm on Atkins, but I do disagree with the fact that you no longer crave. Prior to cheating of any form, I did get occasionally get cravings for no apparent reason at all, even closely monitoring my carbs and ruling out every hidden carb. Sometimes my cravings came in the form of mental craving, and I know some things like chocolate for me, even if I was to never eat it again, I know I will still always love it and eating it wouldn't make me feel sick like the other carbs would. At the end of the day, DANDR does say that you can include every food group except refined sugar back into your diet. Even potatoes, brown rice & lo-carb pasta are foods that can be eaten occasionally, depending on your CCLL.

Atkins is a complete nutritional approach---a controlled carbohydrate program. As you progress through the diet, you will be adding on food groups. So french fries are in your Atkins future---just not 3 orders of the extra large fries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All food groups are allowed back into the Atkins plan---in moderation and how your body reacts to them. How do you know what moderation is and how do you know your body's reaction? That knowledge comes with going through the phases where you will learn about your body and that knowledge will help you keep that weight off. Try to get into your mind that you have 2 general goals during this process: 1. Lose the weight 2. Learn about your body in order to keep the weight off. Good luck to you.
