Default So disappointed:(

I just cheated I am so disappointed in myself! I was doing great and the cookies in the cabinet just kept calling me Here's the question...should I keep going like it never happened? Start my induction completely over? I've already lost 6 pounds, which I know is water...but do you think it will all come back if I just get back on again...NOW. Ugh...I'm just disgusted...I need to have better will power than this

No, no, please don't kick yourself.... :sympathy
We all make mistakes, but the key is to learn from it and move on, otherwise you'll get down and it makes it harder to move on.

I think 6lbs is great (and not all of it would be water weight - only maybe a third of it)

I find cheating is a great way for helping me not to cheat the next time (it depends on how bad you felt after your last cheat!) I find it makes my resolve stronger the next time round and I don't cheat on the same thing again.

So look at it as a stepping stone - 6lbs is great! :yes

Think about what happened that made you choose to eat the cookies. Were you happy, sad, had it been too long since you'd eaten last? Did you have nothing legal to snack on in the house? Think about why this happened.

Also, are the cookies there because other people in your household eat them? Are you able to tell them to keep the cookies somewhere else so they aren't so obvious to you?

This can be turned into a wonderful learning experience :yes that you can grow and be even stronger from.

Pick up, dust off, and carry on!

Thanks guys...y'all make me feel so much better. Mooch, I have no idea why I ate the cookies. I was just dying to have something sweet. I wish I could find somewhere else to put them. I thought about pasting signs all over my kitchen reminding me that I'll gain if I eat this junk...hahaha. It does make it so hard when you are the only one in the house doing this diet. I think I saw on here one time that if you cheat you should drink alot of water. Does that help? Why? Thanks again

I try and remember that if I cheat then it puts me back about 3 days so if I cheat 10 times that is a month. I need to be as healthy as possible and I don't want any set backs that are hendering me from that. I think this makes sense when I read it. If it doesn't sorry I am not sure how else to say it. Also I feel terrible for the next 2 days like I am sick to my stomach. It's not worth it to me but don't get me wrong I have fallen off the wagon several times. You'll get it it just takes a little time to get used to.

if you so desperately want something sweet (like occasionally I do), I was recommended a mixture of cream cheese, unsweetened cocoa and Splenda.

Use it if you're desperate, it may tide you through and won't blow your carb count

Drinking a lot of water is always a good thing to do, so go for it.

Tachielyn, I have totally been in your shoes, so believe me, I know what I'm talking about here with sweets calling my name. I'm fortunate to live in a place where I control what's in the cupboards (bf doesn't have a sweet tooth) but still, there's a corner store 2 minutes away.

Whenever I had strong cravings for sweets I would tell myself "This just proves to me I have a problem with sugar, and I need to BEAT this problem! I will NOT be a slave to sweets anymore!"

I had to reason a lot with myself...and I had to ask myself what would be the worst thing in the world if I didn't get that treat...would I die? No, probably not. Would I be miserable? Yes, definitely..lol...but in the morning, or the next day, or at the next weigh-in, would I be proud of myself? Heck yeah I would be!!...and I was!

We had some tense evenings here :anger when I dealt with all this, but I found that I am much more stubborn than I ever thought I was, and I'm past all that now.

Each decision you make adds up to the big picture. It's like a jigsaw puzzle..choosing to eat a cookie , reaching for water instead, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, boiling up some eggs so you have stuff for snacks... it all comes together and gives you what you are looking for.

Time, patience, diligence, and lots and lots and lots of pats on the back when you make good decisions too, don't forget those!! :joy

Moochie, I am so glad someone can relete...my fiance thinks I am crazy when I tell him how hard it is to just NOT eat the sweet stuff. Then again, he has NEVER had a weight problem. Thank you again for your advice and understanding. Next time I get a craving I am coming to look for you!
:hug

My bf weighs 118 pounds, an he doesn't have a sweet tooth in his head, but he's been incredibly good with me when I've had my rough days. For months I had an endless loop of illegal treats playing in my head...argh!!

I also tell myself that I've tasted almost every sweet treat out there...I know what it tastes like...been there done that...I'm not missing anything. The only thing I'm missing is the highs and the crashing lows from the sugar, and I totally don't need that...or the bad skin...or the FAT...and I'm so much better without it that it's ridiculous.

Also, there will come a time where I will be able to have a bit of this and that, so it's not like it's a future of eating celery and pork rinds, you know? lol

And yes, there are induction legal treats out there, but I felt that I had a problem with this, and I wanted to come home to a house where the food wasn't calling out for me, like your cookies were for you.

I realized today that I have some creamcheese/cocoa/splenda frozen blobs in the freezer and I'd actually forgot I had them there...!
How's that for progress!! :joy

Default freedom will be thine

please keep going and know that it won't always be hard. believe it or not, the day will come when you won't need will power to resist cookies. :nod

the day will come when you don't even want cookies.
you will be free.

when i first started atkins i was afraid to go down the chip and cookie aisle at the grocery store. now i can walk past them and they have no power over me whatsoever. i actually prefer healthy food now.

if it could happen for me, a former compulsive carb junkie, it could happen for anyone. and learn to make a mock danish. thats a great
substitute for a sweet craving and it won't spike your blood and increase your cravings.
