Default Induction and the Gym

its my first few days on Induction, and i have little energy to go to the gym. the irony is that i used to do 3 spin classes a week and i had no problem getting to the gym. even though i only want to lose about 15 pounds will i still see a weight loss even if i dont go to the gym during this first week,(or at least until the induction flu ends)?

Exercise is non-negotiable according to Dr. Atkins. So if you aren't exercising you aren't following the program properly.

Do what you can do, even if it's walking around the block. Some exercise is better than no exercise.

Spinning is very intense so Induction could be hard for you.

I'm a runner and in the first days of Induction I was so tired I barely made it 15 minutes on the treadmill. I just didn't have that energy complex carbs give you...not even the spurt simple sugars give you .

I was just way lethargic. Honestly that is the one thing this diet has never helped me with..energy levels...I lost weight...but even with all the recommended supplements I'm definitely more sluggish for quite awhile. But I noticed a lot of people who notice this huge energy boost during and right after Induction are a lot heavier than I am (150 now down from 158 most recently as a 5'8 woman).

And that makes sense...if you are very heavy...the slightest weight loss will make you feel more energetic because carrying that much extra weight around is energy zapping.

Anyway, during the two weeks and in the initial stages of OWL I just did cycling at slower pace or walking briskly for an extended time. Then I built back up to a more strenuous work out.

Wow thanks so much! i thought i was just doing something wrong cause i wasnt feeling all energized....i am going to try my hardest to at least do 2-3 spin classes a week with 45 mins of cardio on 3 other days. one thing for sure is that i get energy from exercise and especially from seeing the number on the scale go down!!! :icondance

It takes a few days for your body to switch from a carb burning metabolism to a fat burning metabolism. Wait it out .. your energy boost will come, guaranteed! And when it does... :joy :joy

Do what you can for now, but know this: the induction flu WILL PASS.

I started on Monday and like you did not want to go to the gym. I go two to three time a week (before the diet) but I know once I exercise it makes me feel so much better. The "flu" will pass and the energy with come. Just when is different for each person. I am still waiting hopefully next week.

I know what you mean about the energy level drop in the first couple of days, just keep going, if you don't feel like spinning hit the treadmill or do another type of class.

I've started induction again and am on my second day, didn't feel like going the last two nights but I fronted up anyway. The first night I lasted 10 min on the bike, hit the rower for 1000m and then went and did 10 laps of the pool. And last night I just did 10 laps of the pool. Something is better than nothing in my opinion.

Tonight I'll do some cardio and weight training and will see how I go with my energy level. :joy
