| Any chance TOM is around? I ALWAYS retain water during that time of the month. :anger If this might be the case then no worries it will fall off once TOM passes. Have you started exercising at all. Any change in activity will also cause you to retain water. You may not be eating enough calories. Why don't you put your stats in your siggy so that we can give you better advise based upon your particular situation. |

| Well... not unless I cut some parts to make space and produce bleeding :P , sorry I forgot to mention that detail, but I'm male. What stats in what siggy? I'm male, 36, statrted with Scarsdale at 265, changed to Atkins at 240, went down to 228 and then up again to 234.5, the goal is to return to 165 I do some Ab excersice in the mornings and some bike on weekends. I'm eating more calories now than when I was doing Scarsdale, I lost weight with it but I was needing a little more fat and dairy so I decided to switch to this, will jump out in a week or so if I keep gaining weight. | You are definitely not eating enough calories. Not eating enough will cause your body to hang onto every ounce. You still could be retaining water as it looks like you have quite a bit of sodium in your diet. Also week three is notorious for stalls and sometimes even some gains. Drink lots of water. At your weight I would recommend at least a gallon a day. I am no expert and I sure one of the mods will be around to help out too but I definitely think you need to eat more. |

| I agree you are probably not eating enough fats. We aim for 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs on induction. Also the sweetener limit is 3 servings per day - your coke label ought to say how many servings is in what you drink. And you dont mention water - you ought to be having 64 ounces per day plus 8 extra ounces for every 25 pounds you want to lose of plain water.

| I can't eat more fat!!! I'm not dare to eat the chicken skin, if I do some burguers I like lean ground meat, and although I like butter I try to go easy on it and for beef cuts I roast them very slowly so all the fat melts but don't burns. I drink about 100 floz of water daily, I think is enough, and for the amounts of Coke I ocassionally drink the software enters all the necesary information (a 2 littee bottle lasts me 2 weeks aproximately). Will try to keep carbs at 5 grams/day for a week to see what happens. But if the third week is known for stalls and weight gain will wait auntil week 4 or 5 to be certain. Thnk. Quote:

| Can I ask why you cannot eat more fats? Atkins is a high fat diet. Please try to get it through your head that fats are not the bad guys. Trans fats are bad but the rest of the fat is not going to hurt you. |

| You can't teach new tricks to an old dog. I don't feel comfortable eating too much fat, is that simply, although I would be able to eat more fat if I could combine it with some carbs (rice, pasta, bread and beans come to my mind) but that is out of discusion in Atkins. Quote:

| You are doing your own version of lowcarbing...and this is the Extended Induction Forum. If you scroll down a bit on the main page you'll see the Low Carb other than Atkins forum, and you may get better answers there since this forum is dedicated to Atkins followers. A note about the carbs...taking yourself down to 5 carbs a day isn't going to help you lose weight. We get our carbs from veggies, and when you are choosing the correct veggies, you won't gain weight. Have you read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, version 2002 (DANDR for short)? That's what we follow here. If you choose to follow your own plan, we can't really tell you what you are doing right or wrong....only that we do Atkins and we know for sure it works. |
