| I don't know if they're bad for you--a lot of people avoid them because they have a lot of fillers and sugar alcoholos, which can affect some people negatively. And they taste bad to a lot of people (including me!) If you're not concerned with losing weight, I would try a different bar. Maybe a protein bar or something of that nature. You're not really gaining anything nutritionally by eating a low carb bar. Just watch the sugar and fats in the other bars. Why are you eating them anyway? As a snack? Just curious. If you're not doing atkins, you may want to ask this question in the "other low carb diets" forum. |

| Try some high quality dark chocolate. (But NOT on induction.) Lindt Excellence 70% Cocoa Solids is about 30% carb, but take portion of one square - they are thin and about 1 1/4" x 1 1/4"- 10g a square - yes, you can do the arithmetic - 3.3g carbs. Put a piece less than 1/4" x 1/4" in your mouth at a time - yes, that's about 25 shots. Let it melt slowly. The taste is rich and deep - far better that Atkins or any frankenfood bar.

| It is highly recommended, and you'll see it in stickies all over, that you avoid all frankenfoods while in induction. This means no shakes, bars, and other "low carb" products, including Atkins products. Just don't do it. They are not so low in carbs, they may contain sugar alcohols, and they are known to stall many, many people. Doesn't matter how much you exercise. Eat something nutritious instead!

| Hi there~ If I understand your posts correctly, you are NOT on induction and you DO NOT wish to lose weight and you question is how much saturated fat is too much??? If I have this right, then it might be better if you post this in another one of the forums besides the "induction" board. You might get some more responses that actually answer your question that way. In the meantime, I found this Atkins.com article that might shed some light on the saturated fat question...Good luck~ http://atkins.com/Archive/2004/2/3-915798.html |
