Default Stall question - yeast?

I have been stalled for the last 2 weeks. I know probably not a stall just for 2 weeks. But someone suggested I look into to the yeast thing. I did the yeast test (spit test) last week and nothing, today shows I have yeast!! Is this possible? I am so afraid that I am going to have to take away everything that makes this program easy to follow for me and lose my way. I did go to the other forum already but I wanted to post here as well. Has anyone been able to get over yeast by taking supplements and just cutting back on those foods?

Please tell me yes. I have been eating broc/caul. salad like mad (bacon, mayo, splenda) sausage stuffed mushrooms (mushrooms of course) Flax Bread (splenda, Davinci SF syrup) quiche (heavy cream), and cheese cheese cheese not to mention coffee. I lost 19 pounds total in the last 6 1/2 weeks. But that was actually in the first month then nothing pretty much. If I am sensitive to these things why was I able to lose originally? Or is it the build up of eating these things too much?

I am so depressed. And a little

Hi Kelly,

I had yeast, I asked my doctor for the medication diflucan, took it for 7 days and the yeast went away. I don't know if it will come back, but so far, so good.

Have you been losing since you took it? Is that for the "down below" yeast or the candida? Or is it the same thing? I don't really know. Did you change your eating as well? Sorry for so many questions but I am really confused about all this!

Thanks for the info.

I did the spit test one day and it showed I had yeast. I did it the next morning and it showed I didn't have yeast.....

Pauses in your weight loss are normal.
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5090

you said 'cheese cheese cheese'....are you eating more than the recommended amount per day? Perhaps try cutting back on it a bit if you are eating the max each day.

...and relax!!...be patient...eat as you're supposed to..enjoy your summer..the weight will come off. A two week pause isn't abnormal.
Have your measurements changed any?

Moochie, you don't know how happy you made me. Does that mean I may not have it after all? I am thinking about getting some of the supplements just to make sure. Do you think cutting back on the cheese and some other ingredients plus supplements may do the trick?

Also, is cream cheese and cottage cheese still considered "cheese" for your allowances and such?

TIA for the help!

Tweak your diet if it makes you feel more comfortable, but again, this could just be a little pause that your body has decided to do. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned that it could be a yeast thing just to make sure and ask if there's any dangers (that's a strong word, but you know what I mean) in taking supplements geared to be anti-yeast if a person doesn't have a yeast problem. That would be my only concern about taking supplements geared to that at this time.

Cream cheese is classed as a 'cheese' and it's allowed in Induction, but cottage cheese isn't allowed until the dairy rung of OWL. It's classed as a 'fresh' cheese.

About supplements, you can take a probiotic whether or not you have a problem with yeast. Many people take them every day because stress and even eating decreases the population of friendly bacteria in your digestive tract.

Taking a full spectrum probiotic helps keep your digestive tract populated with good bacteria, which is a good thing!

I agree with Monica that it doesn't hurt to take a probiotic every day. I did the spit test and it showed that I had yeast. I often get yeast infections down there for no reason. I asked my doctor about it and he was willing to give me diflucan to get rid of any yeast in my body. The week after I took it, I lost 4 pounds. BUT! It not only killed the yeast, it killed all the good bacteria in my body too. So I had to start taking a probiotic to get it back to normal again. A two week stall is nothing, I have noticed that everybody on extended induction seems to have slowed down over the summer. I think we are all retaining water and will have big wooshies in the fall. Hang in there, you are doing fine!
