HUGE hugs! First off, the food won't help. I promise, it really won't. It truly, really won't. Make a batch of something comforting and low carb and give yourself a hot bubble bath and a good book and a good cry. That will help more than a candybar. A candy bar will raise your blood sugar and then let it plummet. It will make you feel tired, lethargic, dizzy, nauseated, maybe give you diarrhea. Not worth it! Hugs!!

| (((more hugs))) Vent all you want if it keeps you away from the candybar. Kimberly is right...it won't make you feel better...it will definately make you feel worse. It's hard not running to food for comfort sometimes but try to focus on the positive right now. It seems that while you've lost things very important to you, your family is safe. Maybe not happy...but alive. And your brother is a trained professional working with others and there is a lot of military support coming in. Focus on whatever positive things in your life at the moment...even if they're small. And like I said...vent away...feel free to rant and rave...we're here for you.

((Susan)) My heart goes out to you and your family. I will add them to my prayer list. The food is not the issue, it's how you handle the issue. Take care of you, remember to drink your water, exercise to relieve the stress, and plan ahead for the next few hours so you can get your mind focused on an alternative to the stress outside that you can not control right now. You can control this right now. Wishing you and yours safty and health ~Lisa

I'm sending you lots of love and prayers for you and your family. All of us with food addiction reach for comfort through food when crisis happen in our lives. As you've been told...drinking water, exercising and trying to occupy your hands and mind with other things besides eating will pay off in the long-run. Taking a walk or writing down your feelings in a journal will help you more. Come here when you need to -- everyone is more than willing to help you through this tough time. Hugs to you!

This is one of the hardest things I have had to learn. We have to feel the feelings and not medicate them with food. I will have to work on this for the rest of my life. The candy will just make you feel worse. I hope you were able the fight the urge and not eat it. We are here for you, come and tell us your feelings. You have to learn to feel them. Hugs and prayers sent to you and your family.

I have been under some high stress too this week. There have been a couple of times when I really wanted to just throw up my hands and say "what the heck" and eat a box of cookies...and candy bars...and a can of icing. Luckily when the feelings came about I would eat a deviled egg and 2 big sticks of celery. I would always tell myself that after I ate that and had a BIG glass of water if I still wanted a sweet I could have it...Guess what...I never wanted it after all of that. NEVER. So that might work for you as it did for me. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Pie4me-f
