Default Totally blew it!

Well, I ended up at a friend's house for Thanksgiving. She made a salad with mixed greens, lots of pears, walnuts and bleu cheese and a viniagrette dressing that I am sure had orange juice in it. The salad was set at each place and individually made, so I really felt like I couldn't refuse to eat it. As it was, I refused the wine, rolls and several other options. I did have a small blob of potato salad, too. Besides that I had ham and asparagus. I brought the dessert, which was sugar free chocolate mousse. I know it is not allowed on induction, but I thought it was better than trying to talk my way out of cake or pie.

I have really been pretty good for the last two weeks, so I am feeling lousy that I didn't stand up for myself more and just say no to the salad and potatos. I just felt like I was being a bad and picky guest...

After I got home from her house I did get on the elliptical machine for an hour. Maybe I burned some of the carbs away? Oh well, I guess tomorrow is another day... I am going out to Macaroni Grill with some girlfriends on Tuesday. I WILL be stronger this time!

i dont think you really did that bad, and you shouldnt beat yourself up over it...you could have had a lot more bad stuff, and you did keep it in moderation..you also got right back on track, so that is a really good thing....

for my holiday dinner, i brought my own food..my motherinlaw was HORRIFIED, and kept on me with the, "just one bite", or "you can cheat for one day"...that was awful..it was so bad that i went outside to smoke when she did desert cause she just didnt get it..she even bought me chocolate....yikes.. (i sent it to work with my husband..phew...)..the only thing i cheated with was some wine, and i mentioned in another post that i really dont feel guilty for that....

i dont know what others will think of this, but i dont think you did such an awful thing..like i said, you could have done a lot worse and not gone home and exercised, but you didnt...i bet before you started this way of life, you would not have had just that much of the stuff, true? i think having in moderation showed growth....and macaroni grill? dont have that here, but i bet you will be fine......

Ann Dust yourself off and eat clean today and get yourself back on track. Don't let this day ruin the new few weeks.

I don't think that you did too much damage food-wise...but I am always concerned about what makes us dishonor our own wishes. I've been lowcarbing (maintaining) for 4 years, and have found that if I'm firm about what I can eat, then folks are LOTS more understanding than if I am halfhearted about it.

My line is this-- always: "I don't do sugars or starches-- upsets my blood sugar." Toss in the words "blood sugar" and folks make their own assumptions about whether I have diabetes. I have never, never had to explain myself after saying that, not in 4 years of lc-ing.

So, what will your strategy be the next time? (((Hugs)))

This is something for me to think long and hard about.

Definitely a thread topic for Second Time Around Club.

Drink up your water, back on the wagon. Macaroni Grill has fish, and you can switch around the sides.

Thank you all for being so supportive. I was kind of down on myself last night, but got right back to it today. In the past I may have used a cheat as an excuse to wait and start over next week...

I checked with Ketostix this morning and I am still in Ketosis, so that made me happy. I checked out the Macaroni Grill Menu online and found that there are several choices. I will probably go for the steak and arugula salad or just one of their steaks!

Thanks for making me feel better!

Look to the future... learn from the past! Just get back on the wagon and drink lots of water.
At awkward times like these, focus strongly on your goal, imagine how you'll look and feel then... and imagine too how horrid you'll feel just seconds after any foray into carbsville.

You can do this!
