Unhappy New scale shows I weight 15lbs heavier

OK so I am a little upset. I am on day 18 and I should be 12lbs down (265). I use a dial scale and I have only used that scale since day one. Today I bought a digital scale and brought it home, weighted my self and it said 281. Thats a big difference. That wasnt even my starting weight with my old one. What should I do? Keep using my old one?
Little sad.

Nah, I'd add the 12lbs you lost and consider it your start weight. BUT- get a bag of something that is unopened and has the weight printed on it- like flax seed or something- maybe even hamburger meat - whatever- and weigh it on both scales. See what happens and which one is closer to being right

I also went to the Dr. 2 weeks ago. About three days after my start date and her scale was 282.
???????????
I will try measuring something and see if that works.

Erin- due to your last response I am thinking maybe your start weight was higher than the dial scale was telling you. That happened to me. Before I started atkins my scale read 220 and I was not too upset about that, but then I went to the doctors office and they weighed me in at 247. That was not only a 27 pound difference, it was also a wake up call and I got on this WOL and am loving it.

Erin, the same thing happened to me! I was using this old junky scale at work, and I was under the impression I started out at 240 pounds and had gotten down to 216 pounds...well lo and behold, I weigh myself on a new scale, and the CURRENT weight it gave me was 241. So I figured out that my starting weight was actually 265, and that the current weight of 241 was correct. Oh that was a sad day. But I was still relieved to find out that even though the scale was wrong, I had STILL LOST 24 POUNDS!

So, I'd change your starting weight to whatever was 12 pounds ago, and list your current weight as whatever the good scale told you. Keep up the good work...12 pounds is AWESOME!

that happened to me too, a year ago. It was my fault though, I brought a scale that went up to 260 and once it went past 260 (i.e. back to 20...i considered that 280) big surprise when i brought an accurate one.
12 lbs is WONDERFUL, no matter what number you started at. Good Luck with everything, don't let this get you discouraged.

So like everyone said maybe your starting was really 292. I have 3 scales and they each read a couple lbs off. I like to go by the scale that weighs me less Let us know which scale was right.

OK I will let you know. Honestly this really discouraged me. It made me feel like maybe I really didn't lose any weight. When I went to the Doctor her scale was only 4ish pounds different then what I was getting at home. I could deal with that. But now this scale is telling me that I weight exactually what I weighted 2 weeks ago at the Doctor after I thougth I lost 12 lbs. Well hopefully I did lose the weight. Dont worry every one I didn't cheat well kind of didn't. I did go to Ruby Tuesdays for dinner I had a chicken breast with lemon butter ,broccolli ,smashed cauliflower and three rum and diet cocktails. I didnt eat the the cauliflower because it was way to garlicy. So even thought Im not sure what was in the butter sauce I think it wasn't to bad beside the cocktails.

Erin, where in your house/apartment do you weigh yourself? Before my scale went kaput, the weight number would vary depending on where I placed to scale. My floor has a lot of dips so it was hard finding a place that was level. It's just a thought, but everyone with scales, make sure you place it in a level spot.
(please don't ask me where I'm weighing myself right now )
