Default Exercize?

My mom did the Atkins diet and lost 60 lbs.... never ever saw her exercise. Im not one to like exercising and I'm just curious, for those of you who lost like 100 lbs did your skin hang????

Default Re: Exercize?

This is straight from the book about exercise:

"It's an integral part of doing Atkins. It's often neglected and sometimes quietly scorned, but if you think you're doing the program and you're not exercising, you're not doing the program."

No equivocation there. It's great that your Mom lost so much weight, but if she wasn't exercising, she wasn't doing Atkins.

If you do exercise, you'll certainly have less chance of skin sag.

The others are right, to do Atkins 'by the book' you do need to exercise, and by exercising you will help minimise any saggy skin too.

Default Re: Exercize?

I lost 165 pounds with relatively little excercise, but the surgery I had to remove some fourteen # of flesh I'd wish on no one- Please, please exercise. I do Aerobic exercise (treadmill, eliptical) 5 days a week, circuit training w/ weights 3x. The weights are key, because lean muscle mass enables you to burn calories. At first when you're building muscle, you may even gain a pound or two (I don't do scales, I go by how stuff fits), but building muscle will really enableyou to burn fat efficiently & tone you to avoid the dreaded "hanging flesh".

It is a good idea to start with small steps, Bellasmama Get the eating down pat and then move to exercise when you are ready.

BTW you can try to get your body moving more without doing any 'formal' exercise. Park further away from where you are going so you have to walk an extra distance, use stairs instead of the lift (elevator), put some music on when doing housework and 'shake that thang', when in the supermarket make a point of going round the aisles a few extra times, etc, etc.

Anything that makes you take extra steps and makes more movement of legs, arms and body parts is a good start!!
