Default Is It Time for OWL?

I have been 'stuck' in a 5 pound range for approximately 7 weeks. I thought it was just a plateau and kept doing Atkins thinking it would evenutally give but so far, nothing. I have increased my activity and water intake but again, no difference.

I have been reluctant to move to OWL because Induction has worked great for me but maybe there is some beneifits to moving on. Plus, I think I am worried about adding different foods. I have read the OWL chapter in Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution but still am not sure.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Hi Cnbweb,

I think it is a great idea to move to OWl when this kind of plateau is reached - lots of people find that their weightloss begins again once more carbs are added.

If you are concerned about OWL, by all means take it slow - but on the first rung particularly do not worry - an extra helping of veggies is very unlikely to cause you problems. If you do it by the book, which it sounds like you are, then you should be fine

Don't be afraid to move to OWL. Every time I've gone up a rung on OWL, even after being on a "stall", I started to lose weight again.

OWL is great, I cant imagine staying on induction any longer than those 2 weeks.
If anything my weightloss is more regular now than it was before.
I know high sodium foods cause me to retain water but everything else I tried so far has not stalled me.
Just try moving through some rungs, you need to find out one day if there are any foods that cause problems for you, so why not do it now?
As Alexa said, the first rung definitely wont hurt unless your CCL is as low as 20 but even if it was, you need to know.
Just think of the yogurt and fruit and nuts you could have on OWL, doesnt that tempt you?
If the scale and measurements really dont move after a few weeks on OWL, you can still go back to induction level.

Thanks everyone! You've convinced me that I need to cut my comfort zone of Induction and move onto OWL. I decided to try one more week of extended induction but only lost 1 pound from last week (total of 3 pounds in 8 weeks).

Starting tomorrow, OWL - rung 1.
