I know you live in Tokyo, but I swear swear swear that I saw pork rinds in a supermarket in Osaka 2 weeks ago (In the supermarket above the exit of the subway in Miniami Morimachi). I don't read japanese - but i do read 'carbohydrates' in Japanese and they looked exactly like them but had 0.01 carbs. i have no idea what else they could have been. Also, I totally get what you say about no low carb alternatives. I ate a whole sitck of gum that said 'SUGARFREE' in huge letters on it, only to discover later that it had 30.1 g of carbs. Nice translation. Dammit!

grovemonkey will become famous soon enough
Default Re: taking a day off, ok?

I went through a phase where I searched all over the place for pork rinds and never found them.. I basically stopped looking at that point.. I'll have to check around again.

Gum is always deceptive, I just stopped buying it.... you want to chew on it but then 9 times out of 10 there is still some carbs in it.. Also, the big round cans of gum often give the amount of carbs in the whole can of it so one peice of gum would be quite low. I noticed that in certain brands.

I have found that yahoo auctions used to sell and probably still does sell atkin's friendly products like shake mix and also I bought splenda online. You can probably get anything via rakuten, which I like to use for wine.

For me, a "day off" would be a slippery slope ... the chances of my return to low carbs could be tricky. If it were that easy in the first place, I wouldn't have needed to come here in the first place (but I'm glad I did .... I'd rather change my life than indulge a craving!!!).

I wouldn't. It would erase all the good work you've done. To be honest...bad food made me fat, why would I want to fill my body with that again? Why would I want those cravings again? I've gone too far to go back to square one and you have too. Find something that is satisfying and legal. I'm afraid that if you would like to cheat just this one time that you may not make lifestyle changes because you are reintroducing those addictions. You're only four weeks in. If you are feeling deprived move to OWL for more food choices. I just wouldn't. Nothing...no junk is worth it. Seriously.

Why stop if all is going well. Old saying goes, "if it ainy broke, dont fix it" therefore I'm going to ride this wave as long and as far as I can. Me personally I fear that if I fall once, I'll fall down hard. So therefore I'll stay committed and enjoy my successes one day at a time. Good Luck all. God Bless, Joe
