| You've got to want it badly enough before you take action my friend. I think you already know all of the reasons why you need to do this. You've mentioned several in your post. Only you have the power to change your destiny. No one else but you. It's gotta come from within. Good luck to you.

| Hello Jayjay :wave welcome back. Have you tried writing down a list of all the reasons you can think of it for doing Atkins and a list of the reasons why you don't do it? That helps some people who are wavering. But really the only way you are going to start is to just start!! What have you got planned for the next day's eating? Are you cooking for yourself or eating out? If you are cooking for yourself then you know that if you hadnt bought the hash browns, cokes, beans etc you couldnt have eaten them!! Can't you get rid of all 'non-induction' food as well as buying in the 'legal' stuff to force yourself to stick to induction at home?

| Once you start... it gets easier every day! Believe me! Even for me, living in Italy, the land of Pizza-pane-pasta. Just start... that's the biggest hurdle. You can do it! :hug |

| A year ago, on Feb 16th, to be exact, I had a searing pain in my abdomen and I was told they couldn't tell what was wrong because of my obesity. I told my doctor that this pain forced me to look at my body for what it had become and I was disgusted. He asked me if I had done any diet or exercise and I said no. He asked if I had looked into Atkins, and I sputtered about not wanting to spend $$ on a book. He then shrugged his shoulders and didn't really say much more. I left there SO mad at him!! lol I was absolutely pissed off at his ambivalence. But as I stewed about it, and sorted it all out, I had a 'lightbulb' moment, where I realized that it all boiled down to ME. Only I could do this, and things became crystal clear: I saw each day ahead of me as being one small part of a bigger equation. I saw that the things I did today and ate today, would add up to a slimmer, healthier me in the long run. Once I got that Big Picture in my head, it all became clear to me, and here I am, a year later, and 42 pounds gone. It's a day at a time, a meal at a time and even a bite at a time if need be. Hopefully this might click for you as it did for me. All the best to you! |

| Over a year ago, I was in your position. Each day, I'd begin with good intentions until I'd eaten a few morsels of something healthy and then ... I'd eat whatever was there ... and I'd stop at fast food places and by the end of the day, I'd hate myself all over again. When I first began Atkins on January 5, 2004, I'd read the book, I understood the science behind it and the food pretty much aligned itself with foods that I could eat. But in the first few weeks, I didn't feel like I could depend on myself, so I depended on others on this board ... I watched Pammie, Perry, Shawnee, Canuck, Bren, Biker Goddess, Janice, Betty & Book. I looked at the before and after photos and read the congratulations from others who supported everyone here whether they lost a few pounds or more. Truthfully, until I could depend on myself, I depended on the weight loss of others and after a week it got easier and after two weeks, I knew I could do this. Yes, you have to want it and you have to figure out why, but when you do, the rewards are great!

| I think the way you look and feel should be a wake up call. One morning I woke up and said "this is it!". That is the day I knew that I had to change my ways. I didn't like the way I looked and felt. I have three kids. I don't ever want to be embarrased by the way I look. I just had to start induction one day. There is never the perfect day to start. You just have to do it. I always used to have excused. After this particular holiday i'll start, after that particular birthday i'll start. You just have to wake up tomorrow morning and say "this is it!". I've lost 31.5 lbs. I'm starting to feel great about myself. I exercise 5-6 days a week. This is the one thing that I do for myself. It will pay off. I promise you that. The longer you're on Atkins, the easier it is. I live in Las Vegas where there are buffet galore and great restaurants. You just learn to make better choices. Ask yourself how do you feel when you eat a meal full of carbs. I don't know about you but I get very bloated and gassy. Since i've been on Atkins, I feel much better. It's amazing the great stuff you can have. Check the recipe boards out. That's what saved me when I started getting bored. i wish you the best of luck. If I can do it, so can you!
