| Well, speaking for myself I've always been able to lose weight fast if I put my mind to it. Just since restarting this year I've shed 23 pounds . . . but then again I was considerably overweight with 90 pounds to lose atleast. I think it's really all about excercising and staying on strict induction ~ I've noticed excercising and lifting weights daily has accelerated my weight loss like never before . . . and you gotta factor in those who just change their eating habits with no excercise ya know :yes Just my two cents

| I'm not too much overweight, and I lost quite a bit on my first 2 weeks induction...but after that it slows down to only a couple ounces a week...(or month). As you can see I'm still stalled, but I know the weight will come off eventually! Like mentioned already, everyone has a different body type and some people just lose faster than others. |

| I will be honest with you and myself...I think not eveyone does induction to the letter! I didnt the first four times I tried it!!!! This past time I kept a food diary was exact in my food calculations (although I ate a bit more veggies I kept the carb count at 20 or less grams a day) drank tons of water and voila' it came off much faster... yes everyone does have a differing rate of fat burn so it can vary ....however if you follow those rules drink all your water and move your body ...guess what you loose weight! |

| Well, definitely the more you have to lose, the more you will likely lose on induction. As for myself, I have around 30 lbs to lose all together (started out at 162 and would like to go down to 130 as my first goal, then 120 as a second goal) and I lost 9.5 lbs on my first 2 weeks of induction. I gained and stalled during week 3, and during week 4 (last week) I figured out that it was the chicken wings that I was eating (homemade and induction friendly) which was causing my gain and stall. Now, after correcting that, I am down to my weight that I came out of induction on (152.5).

| my impression is that the people on the tv shows lose more because they work out a lot. it's like an exercise vacation for them. they don't go to the gym 4 times a week and return to their sedentary lifestyle (sitting behind a desk, watching tv, etc.) the rest of the time. they work out, they do "made for tv" activities, etc. etc. etc. i think they lose faster because they are considerably more active than the average atkineer. |

| Bingo from the last poster. I thought that was pretty obvious. **** I could eat a chocolate cake every day and lose weight if I were exercising as much as those folks on reality shows. You notice all the people with the LEAST amount to lose are kicked off quickly because the loss won't be as dramatic as quickly as those who are much heavier. A little unfair IMHO. Frankly they are just doing what most celebs do when they drop tremendous amounts of weight. They have the luxury of not having to do their "normal routine" for 8-12 weeks (or longer) and often spend as much as six hours a day in the gym PLUS being on Atkins or Zone like diet plans. Renee Zelwegger (spelling?) ,Beyonce', Jessica Simpson...all these folks who have these seemingly quick weight losses do so because they are spending nearly ALL their time dedicated to that one goal until the next movie, album, award show or whatever. The people are not special...the circumstances are. |

| Exactly... I think the real world with family and jobs makes the process of losing much tougher. It also heightens the motivation levels of those involved. It is a whole easier to be motivated when you are on national TV show or have a lot of weight to lose. Some of them lost 10-20 pounds a week with this weightloss greenhouse, which is nothing short of astounding, but to compare yourself to it is hardly compariing apples to apples. Those guys on the big losers did great when they returned home, but they were still under public spectacle at that time. I compare it to those shows like Clean Sweep or the how to clean your house show where the pick up a pigsty or remove the clutter. If you just had a TV show demonstrate your filth to the world, wouldn't you live a bit better in the near future. I wish they did one year stop backs in these cases to see how they function when the bright lights are off them.

| I agree with the others on the fact that the people on those shows only have to worry about losing weight and exercising. They are free from the everyday temptations, howsework, jobs, kids etc... However this WOE does work if you are willing to stick to it and go strictly by the rules set forth. In my first 2 weeks of Induction I lost 17lbs and for the first 4 weeks total I lost 27 lbs. I exercise at Curves 6 days a week and drink at least 96 ounces of water a day and go completely by the book for food choices. I had a tragedy in my family recently and I slipped off the wagon but because of my dedication before and exercise routine I haven't gained any weight and now am starting over again. Unfortunately we have real lives to lead and temptations to face but we can achieve our goals if we really want to |
