Have a cup of cocoa with splenda and cream, it cuts the cravings for me.

I take a big spoon and dip it into LC peanut butter...as long as you are past the nut phase. Before that, I would eat rhubarb with salt. Odd as it may seem, it was like the sourness of sour gummy bears with the saltiness of chips.

If you feel you have a sugar demon on your back and you want to get rid of him, then eat something like an egg with mayo, or meat with cheese (protein and fat combo of some sort)...or even a dill pickle...and drink lots of water.

If you feel that you are able to have something sweet, mix some cream cheese with splenda, or get yourself some sf jello.
Once in a while I'd whip up some heavy cream, whip in some room temperature cream cheese and sf vanilla syrup to make a pudding.

I always chose a sweet treat that involved a bit of work to it, so that it wasn't easy to go and shovel a bunch of it in. If it was picky to make, I would think twice about making it, which sometimes meant I decided against it...which was fine with me.

Default Oh, me too..just the past few days, though...

I have been majorly craving sweets. I think it is due to Valentine's Day. I have been doing whipping cream, vanilla, and splenda a lot. I figure it's better than the alternative. But, I think I have gone overboard a bit.

Well, I am in my 5th week of induction and I have been pretty good, but we went to EZs (in Austin) and they have the best milkshakes.

Wonder of wonder - they make a low-carb milkshake that it 8 net carbs.

This is mist certainly breaking the rules of induction, but at least the place is well out of my way.

The chocolate milkshake is very delightful I can report.

Whats interesting is - I did not experience any kind of sugar rush like I still remember from before. It was tasty, but when I was done, I did not crave more. It was a nice novelty to break up the boredom - something I may treat myself to occasionally after I hit my goal, but I can see how you might get into the trap of doing it too often.

I also had a 0g carb "candy" bar on Feb 14th. It was a similar experience to the milk shake - good, but it did not grab me and drag me back to my old life...

Hold up, hold up- what is this and can I have it on induction? What sort of cocoa? I'd die happy if I could have the occasional cuppa of cocoa!

First thing to do with any type of craving is to determine if it is really a craving or if it's thirst. The part of the brain that controls thirst is next door to the part of the brain that controls hunger/cravings. Due to our lousy eating habits, some of us can't accurately distinguish between thirst and hunger/cravings. So drink a glass or two of water, wait about 30 minutes. If the "cravings" go away, it was thirst and you saved yourself some calories and some carbs. If the cravings don't go away, eat a high fat/high protein snack. I would avoid sweetening that snack because if you feed your sweet tooth, it will keep demanding more and more and will be harder to control. If the reason why you are fat is because you overindulged in sweets, then this is something you should really think about before reaching for the artificial sweetener and low carb "sweets".

When I first came to ADBB, the mods here used to say the best way to control the sweet tooth is to starve it to death. I've seen too many folks feed that tooth and either fall off the plan completely or post threads about gaining weight or stalling.
