I am so mad!!

A friend of mine is also doing Atkins and she said what helped her was to take vitamins along with the diet. I agreed and she said that she got some that gave her LOTS of energy and made her feel GREAT. She gave me about 30 of these "vitamins" and of course I took most of them within the last month. I have not really budged in my weightloss(infact, I gained 5lbs) and wondered why. Anyhow LONG story short... my sister had told me that the "vitamins" she gave me contained EPHEDRA!! Is this why in over a month I have not lost??? I am SO angry with her, I won't even speak with her. What effects might this have had on my Atkins plan? I am sorry to vent but I don't like the idea of taking Ephedra! Will I get back on track?? HELP!!

Well, stop taking them and see if you start losing again. If you start losing again then you know it was from your friends "vitamins".

I know that when I take a vitamin it doesn't feel the same as when I use to take something with Ephedra in it. Anyway, from now on just don't put anything in your mouth unless you know what it is.

The ephedra shouldn't make you gain it is a weight loss product. I used to take it and it helped, that is UNTIL I stopped taking it. Then I gained 25 pounds in one month and didn't change or increase what I was eating. They did take it off the market and that is what finally led me to stop using it even though I could feel in my body that it wasn't good for me. Where could she have gotten it since it is illegal to sell it now? Makes me wonder if that is in fact what she gave you. Plus, you really would have noticed a big difference when you took it. They used to call ephedra legal speed.

I asked my sister the very same thing... where did she get it? My sister says she sees it all the time off a website called Ioffer, I think that is what she said. I did notice a difference in energy and sometimes I felt "speedy" but I just thought since I had not taken vitamins really that it just gave me a boost of energy. I don't know.. I am off of them though. If it was infact something like "Metabolife" , that stuff does have ephedra and caffeine and we are definately not supposed to have caffeine. I guess that is what happened with my weight gain.

I have Asthma and use ephedrine so I can breath. It is not dangerus to healthy individuals and also for those who take it wisely. You can buy the stuff all over the internet and it's sold now as a decongestand. Mine is from the pharmacy as a perscription and I take it before I run or I would be having asthma attacks every time. LOL sucks having asthma. It should not affect your weight loss I would be looking more into your menu and possible TOM becuse those are more likely to be the culprits.

That's true it is in a lot of medicine but she is talking about diet pills with ephedra. Its different. The diet pills with it do a "stacker" which is the ephedra, caffine, and asprin. These diet pills are what the FDA took off the market. Ephedra itself is not illegal. I have heard that you can find the diet pills still online where people still have it but I couldn't find them myself way back when I was upset they went off the market. I looked at the site and low and behold they still have certain diet pills with it. Makes me nervous to take something that was taken off the market though even though I do believe the people who got hurt from it didn't take them as the directions state.

People were trying really hard to unload them right before they became illegal. You could have bought hundreds of them from off of eBay if you had the money. I think that some people stockpiled some for their own use and maybe that's how her friend got them even though they're not legal anymore.

I hated the way they made me feel.
