I don't like the Atkins chocolates and by ordering a (TRUCKLOAD) what are you teaching yourself about eating. You have lost a ton of weight and are doing so awesome. Frankenfoods are a substitute for a lot of the bad stuff we want to keep out of our bodies. I don't think it's a good idea to have a lot of that stuff in your house cause it may put you on a downward spiral.

Well, if they have sugar alcohols in them, some people say you still have to count half of those in your carb totals. I doubt that you will eat many of them or you'll be reallllly uncomfortable. Like bloating, cramping and diarrhea. Not pretty at all. :no

Just looked at the website and they do have Maltitol in them. That's one of the worse sugar alcohols for causing gastric distress.

Quote:
Sugar alcohols are chemically alcohols, but are derived from sugar molecules. They include sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, lactitol, maltitol, and others. They vary in their sweetness, ranging from about half as sweet as sugar to about as sweet.

Sugar alcohols, or polyols, may be used in place of sugar by most people on a low-carbohydrate diet or who have diabetes. Polyols are slowly and incompletely absorbed from the small intestine into the blood. Absorbed polyols are converted to energy by processes that require little or no insulin. Some of the polyol that is not absorbed into the blood is broken down into fatty acids in the large intestine.

Since they are incompletely absorbed by the intestine, over-consumption may produce a laxative effect in some people. They are often used in "sugar free" candies and syrups. They have about half to three-fourths as many calories as sugar. They also do not promote tooth decay.

Although they are much preferable to sugar, low-carb dieters may still wish to avoid them because some people report that sugar alcohols act as "trigger foods," causing carb cravings or binges. http://wilstar.com/lowcarb/sugaralcohols.htm
I think that Z-Carb chocolate bars would be a better option ..... if you must have chocolate!

Well first a truck load was a over statement i was playing mostly.

I think im doing just fine. Its about options. They give the opportunity to enjoy a sweet with out the carbs. 2carbs per 3 package. Now there is nothing wrong with that. I dont know about you but i make a few low carb recipes! and enjoy them. Nothing wrong with that. Im not teaching my body anything!!! but to enjoy food again! nothing wrong with that. Its about control all of which i have.

We don't recommend that stuff for the induction phase...from what I've read on these boards alot of people started with just a few chocolates and ended up falling off the wagon. Not saying this pertains to you or not just want you to know why we don't recommend them for induction. Also, the sugar alcohols can wreak havoc on your digestive system(I speak from experience) so if you are going to try them don't eat several at one time until you have established that it doesn't cause you problems.

I was just saying and I also said you were doing awesome. I just don't think that the chocolates are good. Yes, I have had them a couple of times but, like many if you have a whole bunch in the house I hope you won't just go nuts. I know I would. If you want them by all means have them I just basically ment to say be careful. You are on OWL so giver have them just like evryone said be careful of the sugar alcohols and the Atkins ones suck. Just so you know. I bought a couple of those ROSS ones they are good.

By all means have them if that's what you want but from my point of veiw it's not worth it and I would only buy one. Leave the rest at the store cause you never know what might happen.

Sorry if I offended you but, if I can't express my opinion you obviously had your mind made up anyhow.

before you go buying then on line ad getting stuck with them try buying one at the store and teasting it out on yourself. do it when you can stay home and don't have company as I kid you not folk can here your intestinal rumblings if you have active flora in your gut.

On thing you need to know that it isn't 2 carbs. it is We decided that those other 20 some odd carb have a minimal blood sugar impact on you based on some limited studied done on them. We also mean for you to endulge responsibly as there really are howevery many servings in a box that we posted in the Niutrtional label about. Oh and should you get stalled eating our product we do have a section on our website telling you what to do about it.

Now knowing all the information about them you need to made an informed decision about eating them as a part of your program. Dr Atkins was on Larry King in Jan before he dies and he was clear those products aren't for the weight loss phase of the program.

Choise wisely and use them wisely as the occasional treats Dr Atkins intended them to be.

Happy low carbing.

The Atkins endulge bars killed my stomach, because of the sugar alcohols. I did the same thing, ordered tons of low-carb stuff. But, then I found this board which discourages the low-carb sweets. I have given them up almost 100%, but it's very hard once you have just a little. I am starting today trying to have a "clean induction", which means no low-carb sweets or frankenfood. Good luck!

Default On a whim one time...

I bought some chocolate mints. I thought they were really good. I honestly expected to take one bite and throw them out but I ended up eating 2 of the 3 that were in the package. I think every so often, it is fine. But, I would much rather eat chocolate mousse or low carb cheesecake for a treat instead.
