Default Not in ketosis during TOM???

Can someone explain the how and why of this? I don't understand why one wouldn't be in ketosis if still following a strict induction.

Thanks

how do you know you are not in ketosis? You can't use the sticks during tom as blood messes them up. Many people stall or gain a pound or 2 with TOM. NO FEAR! after tom is over you will be back to normal.

Actually you can use the sticks duing TOM...as there is no blood in your urine.

I have read this previously on the board and also have checked the stick with NO color change...not even a hint.

Just wondering the how's and why's.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the ketostix. If you're following the rules of induction, you'll be in ketosis. The stix can be effected by the amounts of water you're drinking and other factors.

It has something to do with hormones and such during TOM Mine don't change either it has to do with body chemisty don't worry too much about it your TOM with go and you'll be back in ketosis and probably a few pounds lighter.

yep hormones I tell you if Dr Atkins was a lady there would have been chapters if not a whole book on TOM and DANDR effects everything from retaining fluids causing scale weight gain to cravings and how to control them.

Yep it has to do with hormones you are still burning fats for fuel so keep eating your Atkins program right where you are and when Tom is done you will see you are still in ketosis and you are still losing fat mass.

Happy low carbing.

It's true, there shouldn't normally be blood in your urine, but you might get trace amounts of blood due to the proximity of your vagina and your urethra.

I work in a medical office and I use the "Chem 10" sticks on occasion. Those sticks test for ketones, sugar, blood and other things. Even if I'm using a tampon, the blood registers trace amount.
