Default Need some advise ..

I’m not sure what to do I screwed up yesterday and had 2 ½ slices of thin crust ham/cheese pizza and some chicken marsala with maybe ¼ c of pasta and ½ c green beans for dinner. I was on day 4 of induction and don’t know if I need to completely start over just keep going I think I read something in the book that said you can’t have 1 of something that it didn’t work so I don’t know maybe I have to start back at day 1. I don’t think I cheated from a craving of the carbs because I don’t feel like I need to have more carbs now I think I maybe got tired of what I was eating and something different sounded good. I don’t really have much time to make complex recipes because I have two young children (5 and 2) and they don’t need to be on it so I can’t clear all the high carb stuff out of the house because they are thin kids and need it. My husband is kind of thinking he should be on Atkins but isn’t ready to do it yet. I do have to say I am picky about whats on the acceptable food list because I really only like chicken, bacon, beef, ham, pork and eggs (fried, deviled, or scrambled). The vegetables I like are limited too chives, peppers, lettuce, avocadoes, olives, onion, peas, and tomatoes but all cheeses and spices I like. I know I’ve really limited myself and its my own fault I’m trying to try a few more things but haven’t developed a taste for them yet. I think I’ve lost about 3 lbs so far and I’m 5’6” and started at about 167 I’m not that overweight but I’d really like to lose about 30 lbs but am starting with 10 lbs for now. But its hard for me to tell if anything is really happening … in Feb I joined Curves and my weight started to go up and up and I noticed my clothes getting tighter and tighter so for the last few weeks I’ve backed off of going only maybe once or twice a week instead of 3 or 4 times a week. I’m not sure if its from losing some muscle or weight I certainly hope its weight. I’ve mainly been eating bacon or pork with a slice of cheese and scrambled eggs in the morning, a salad with chicken or steak w/cheese and chicken broth or a hamburger patty w/cheese for lunch and dinner varies that’s my harder meal one night I had chili’s chicken/steak fajita’s no tortillas and the other nights I either had chicken drumette’s or just a chicken breast. I have been having a few deviled eggs in there or an Atkins bar or Shake whenever I needed it. Any advise on what to do would be appreciated or if anyone has any easy recipes that would be great too. Thanks!

Hi there,

I would say there is no need to start over. Just make sure you meals get back on track, that you are drinking enough water to flush out the carbs and sugars. Take your supplements too.

You say you have limited yourself and felt bored. For only day 4 this is not good, as this is a lifestyle change so you need to be happy with your food choices long term. I'd recommend trying foods you think you dislike, cook them in news ways and your tatse buds are likely to change - at least with some things!

The recipe section of this site is great for new ideas. Also check out the induction friendly recipes on this site: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home

It can be hard to eat with people no low-carbing, but there are lots of ways to serve the same meal to the whole family but with a carb for them and not for you. I do this with my partner and it works well.

Best of luck and let us know how you get on

your limits on your food dont seem to extreme to me... you can still have some variety..it just takes planning... you can do a ham wrap (w/ lettuce instead of tortilla) you can grill / bake / roast chicken... there is a great recipe on here for bbq sauce w/ splenda eggs for brkfast and chicken salad for lunch with bbq pork for dinner ?? sounds like variety to me ! keep up the good work you can do it

Thumbs up Re: Need some advise ..

I agree with continuing on. There's no need to start over. I too can get bored with eating the same old foods. I think that is why I am doing this a second time around. This time, I decided that I was going to eat induction-friendly foods but vary them. So I sought out recipes. The link to Linda's LC web site that Alexa provided is absolutely EXCELLENT! Right now while I'm on extended induction, it will be like a LC bible to me.

Don't give up and don't be discouraged, just keep on keeping on.
