| Are you doing any exercises that might be causing this? Is it a muscle kind of ache, or something different? If it's something different, maybe you should check with a doctor. Atkins should not cause any pain, other than possible muscle pain from adding in exercise. If it's excessive, please get some professional help. Rick

| The only exercise that I do is walking and it's never bothered me before. I think I may go visit the doctor though. It doesn't hurt all the time, but I notice it when I'm walking. I don't feel it when I'm sitting. |

| When our weight changes, up or down, it's usually a slow, gradual process; our muscles have to adapt slowly and thus, no serious pain. I've noticed with Atkins that we lose weight so quickly our bodies don't have time to adjust and it's this stress to our muscles, a shifting of load, a readjustment of weight, that causes a lot of our backaches. This, at least, has been my experience. The pain will pass.

| Is it an inner pain or a muscule pain? If it is an inner pain than i would see your doctor, you might have kidney stones or something.

| 'Don't notice while sitting' doesn't sound internal to me.. but I am no doctor. Sounds like something is pulled to me. Hope it gets better!

| I had a lumbar fusion (Back Surgery) in November 2007. I will start by saying that I 've been experiencing muscle sorness based on my physical activity. I've also noticed that if I drop more than 5lbs in a week, my back aches more. However, I'm also increasing my daily walking distance. I refuse to use narcotics and only take tylenol or use icy hot / ice packs. My aches and pains are 100% muscular. But if the pain persists for more than two weeks or gets worse, I would go see a doctor. |

| Back pain sufferer here too. One of my problems is I sleep on my tummy some nights and wake up to an awful back ache. I lay on the floor with my legs up agains the bed at a 90* angle. Then have hubby slowly pull my legs toward my head to stretch my lower back out. My six year old does this for me sometimes too. I do have degenerative disc problems so I will always have back issues but this really does seem to relieve it a bit. You could also lay over a stability ball on your tummy to stretch it out. Good luck! Donna 200/184/160 start date 8-27-08 5,000+ steps a day & stabilizer ball64+ ounces of water a day Participating in Weigh? No Way! Challenge 5 |

| Droping weight, espcielaly from you midsection can alevieate back pain and siatica. The Orthopedic Surgeon who performed my lumbar fusion made it VERY clear that I HAD to reduce my weight to average BMI levels (260lbs to 170lbs) in order for my surgery to be successful and alevate chronic pain and siatica. So hang in there. Do the gentle stretching exercise and work on strengtheing your abdominal muscles. |
