| i have been in induction since june 15... i have read that you need to move up the rungs as you get closer to goal so that you can see how many carbs your body can handle and what foods you may need to stay away from.... i plan on being extended untill about 30 lbs to goal |

| Same here, I am moving up once I am at the half way mark which is 30 pounds. If there is boredom, it is best to move up since you will still lose on the rungs.

| If you want to really benefit from the OWL scientific experiment, testing various foods and discovering your CCLL you need to allow yourself plenty of time while you have lots of weight to lose. Say you are losing a couple of pounds a week and decide to try out several new foods on each OWL rung then you will need to allow a few weeks on each rung, meaning it might take you a few months to climb up the carbohydrate ladder. Dr Atkins expected us to have completed OWL and be ready for the third phase of Atkins when we still have 5-10 pounds to lose. It will be much easier to recognise if adding 5 net carbs of the OWL foods has affected your losses if you still have a fair number of pounds to go, as most of us slow down once we get close to our goal weights.

| Hi, I'm working on my 6th week in induction. So far, so good. I believe in DANDR, Atkins indicates that you can stay on induction as long as needed. This is true especially if you have alot of weight to lose. But, it also depends on if your weightloss continues. Some folks have experienced a slow down in weightloss the longer that they stayed on induction and then, found that when they started moving up the rungs, their weightloss resumed. I plan to stay on extended induction until my weightloss slows. Then, I will know that I need to move up the rungs. I hope this helps. Etire
