| Good question. Fresh cheeses are not allowed on induction, and I've read somewhere either in the book or on the board is because of the higher carb content. You're only allowed 3-4 ounces of cheese a day, that's 3-4 carbs a day of dairy. Consider this as you ponder hanging out in Induction longer: OWL rung 1 is more veggies and OWL rung 2 is dairy (including cottage cheese). If you're finding that you wish to have more veggies and dairy, you might think about starting up the rungs of the OWL with more veggies for a few weeks and then gradually add in the dairy after that. There's been plenty of weight loss surprises coupled with exercise as people (me included) have lost more weight during OWL than just on Induction and extended Induction alone. You're choice, but just something to keep in mind

| Cool, my ideal would be eggs for breakfast, cottage cheese and lettuce for lunch, and a steak or burger patty for dinner. I could live on that for a long time. Alex

| Then moving up the OWL rungs would benefit you if you're wanting changes in your daily foods

| If I may ask, roughly how much are you losing a month? I spoke with a DR that recommended Adkins and he said that as long as I stay in induction, I should lose 15 to 20 pounds a month. Is that typical? Thanks Alex

If you think about it, losing 15-20 pounds right now would be roughly about 3-4 pounds a week at your weight. In my opinion (since the doctor has a degree backing up his Your body will fluctuate each week going from losing 3-5 pounds depending on what you're eating and your activity level. Mine was really high last month with what I was eating and jogging, so I lost a lot more last month. I also had weeks where I didn't lose and then lost a lot. A sinus cold slowed me down this month (my students love sharing!). But that's okay, too, because I need skin to shrink, as well Slow and steady not only builds character to your way of eating for life, but it also helps your body adjust Hope that helps.

| I've been doing Atkins since 2002. Cottage cheese was allowed on induction in some of the earlier books. I forget which one was the last one that allowed it...I'll have to go look it up. It's the version I've always used (though I own them all) and I lost just fine on induction using cottage cheese. ETA: I think it might be the 1992 version.
