Default Sigh...a bit of a stall...

Hi all...

I seem to have hit my first stall of Extended Ind. (four days in) I started adding the tiniest bit of Stevia to my water intake.

My normal menu is 3-4 pieces chicken w/skin (grilled) and 2 oz. cheese for breakfast, some hard salami, olives and the other 2 oz cheese and 2c. alfalfa sprouts for lunch, then 2 pieces chicken or a can of tuna and some jicama for dinner.

My ketostix are the next-to-darkest purple. Is this just my body adjusting?

I know I shouldn't complain; I just want to make sure I'm keeping "clean".

Thanks in advance!

Shelley

Aww..Dont let the stalls get you down, This is a normal part of weight loss. 4 days is not bad. When I stalled in the past someone directed me to this post and it made so much sense...I hope it helps

Shelley, are you measuring? You may have lost fat in inches and not know it.

Besides that - weight loss is not linear, and I will go weeks with no loss in pounds and then lose a few pounds - it's just how it works sometimes.

I was going to suggest to try taking body measurements too. I was up almost 2 pounds today and I have been eating so clean, I could not figure out why. I took my body measurements for the first time in 2 weeks and I have lost 2 inches of my hips, 1.5 off of my waist...you get the picture. It helps me to stay somewhat motivated despite the scale not moving. You're doing great so far!

Hi,

My name is Fennela and I am doing ongoing induction too.
I read your post and wanted to send you a message.
1) I have found that I stall from time to time. I think it is normal and it's the bodies way of regrouping.
2) also weight stalling does not mean we are not getting smaller. I highly recommend taking measurements. I noticed in my bra and face first.
3) For us gals then "time of the month" is a factor too.
4) I read what you have eaten and you use the word some twice (watch some, some is dangerous) measure everything all the time.
5) cheese? what kind of cheese?
I HIGHLY recommend that you go buy the Atkins carb counter book it's about $3.

I went through your menu with the info you posted and it is possible you are going over on carbs as induction should be under 20 carbs.

6oz chicken = 0
12 olives = 2.8
4oz of cheddar = 1.6
2 cups raw alfalfa sprouts = 2.4
1 cup raw jicuma = 11.4
3 small slices beef salami = 1.9
2 packets of stevia = 2

That comes to 22.1

Fennela

Hi all,

Thanks for all your help. The support on these boards is amazing.

Fennela, thanks for the breakdown. Sorry I forgot to put in exact amounts, but I had 1/2 a cup jicama and 5 olives with the one meal. So that still puts me under 20g. Unless there's something obvious that I'm missing.

See you on the boards!

Shelley

Drink your water plain. If you add sugar substitutes to it, it is no longer clean water.
I don't know if you are getting enough fat or calories with that menu. Make sure you eat enough.
A small stall is to be expected many many times. Weightloss is not linear.

Hi Liv,

Thanks so much for your post. In fact, after doing that for one day, I figured out that same bit of advice. It's not clean. So yesterday I stopped and now I'm down another pound.

Cheers!

Default Re: Sigh...a bit of a stall...

Hi Guys. I wanted to point out a couple things.

A stall is 4 weeks of not losing weight, not losing inches. You may have hit a plateau, but this is far far far from a stall. A stall leaves you wanting to throw your scale out the window after you are done screaming at it (at least it did me).

Second. While Fennela was really nice in breaking down your foods into grams of carbs, we use NET carbs (or as it's written in the book "Digestible carbs"), not total carbs. So that Jicama is actually 11g-6g fiber, so 5g NET carbs, not 11g TOTAL carbs (or in your case of 1/2c, it is 2.5g not 5g).

So you're obviously under the 20g of net carbs for your daily amounts. Like Liv said, plain water, also make sure you're getting enough of it. 64oz plus 8oz for every 25lbs you want to lose is a standard amount.
