| Hi Babak, I workout 6 days a week (both in the morning before work and in the evening a few hours after I get home) and eat the Atkins way. I lost weight just eating this way, however, I noticed once I started to exercise again, my results were soooo much better AND my body looked much better overall. As of today, I weigh 262 lbs. but to look at me I probably look around 230 lbs. Exercising definately makes a difference in the weight loss as well as the way one's body looks. Cheers! | Way to go on the exersize. Personally I have only changed my eating. I do have a membership but haven't gone to work out more than a hand full of times. We moved just after I started on this program and it has consumed my time so much that I never got into the habbit of working out. I have however had great results with losing weight just with the eating portion. I started sept 18th and have since lost just over 52 lbs. The plan is to start working out this week but I feel that at least I am eating right. I would love to firm up though. |

| Congratulations on losing 52 lbs....that's awesome!!!! You should be very proud of that...what a tremendous accomplishment! Yes things tend to pop up and pre-occupy us don't they? I think it's fabulous that you're going to get back to working out this week, I know you'll see a difference...also you'll probably feel even more energized too. For me, I have just made it a MUST in my life...I know that no matter what (unless there is an emergency or I become incredibly ill) each morning and each evening I'm going to exercise 6 days a week. I've made that a priority and I've stuck to it....I'm glad I have. Some mornings are really tough...I come into my office here at home right after I wake up....sit down and plunk my head on top of my desk and sit there and reason with myself..."you could be sleeping you know....you could just add another hour to this evening's exercises and go back to bed right now.....you could do that....you're doing fine" and then I open my eyes and see my running shoes sitting there (I position them right under my desk so I see them first thing in the morning) and just quickly put them on and get into my exercise routine as fast as I possibly can! LOL!!! Congratulations again on your weight loss....that's just awesome! Keep us posted on how the workouts go next week....who knows...maybe try to just fit in a walk tomorrow...see how it goes! Talk with you again soon! Sarina ----------------------- Heaviest weight last year- 400 lbs. (2007) April 1, 2008 - 387 lbs. Wow, congradulations to your amazing weight loss my problem is , as I used to do super heavy , super serious workouts when i was in my 20's (those six pack years !!) now that I need lots of sedentary job + sitting and readin stuff +4 hours a day (in addition to other readings)..........so when i get in to workout, I can't get out!!!!! I make it serious and more serious as I used to do,,,,then it ruins all my lifestyle, all my job activities,,,,,,,as though my only job is work out as scheduled..............so I stop it to catch up with my sedentary job/life............ still couldnt make a balance,,,,,,,,what a shame !!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Try to exercise for 15 minutes a day. It can be a walk. Lift weights or stretching, yoga. The important thing is that you move your body. You don't have to kill yourself, just move your body. Weight lost is accelated and muscle mass is created.

| One member used to have a great quote they used sometimes Quote:
Still got a long way to go, but lifting as well as cardio is improving things slowly.

| my workouts....when i do them, well....they are extrememly hard. i combine cardio with calisthetics. for instance: 2 minutes on treadmill 20 pushups 20 squats 20 situps...... then another 2 minutes on treadmill and i lower my numbers to 18 reps on the exercises. then the treadmill again and 16 reps, 14 reps....keep going all the way down to just 2 reps. other workouts i do are on football fileds, tennis courts....i am always doing some kinda cardio sprint work with some kind of muscle movements. then at the end of the routine, if you wish.......do another 20-30 minutes on the treadmill at slower speed. but it can be time consuming until you get it down to a science LOL

| Exercise is Non-Negotiable!!! Dr. Atkins says that exercise is one of the crucial parts of this WoL. That being said, I just got back into working out regularly. I used to go twice a day, 5/7 days (one cardio workout, one weights workout). It made a huge difference in the way I looked and felt about myself. I could do things people didn't think I'd be able to, and could wear smaller size clothes than I had previously been able to at that weight. When I do cardio on the elliptical, I take along a book to read. Yes, I know it *looks* funny, and people may think I am a slacker for not using one with the arms and trying to increase my cardio, but I am secretly enjoying it much more, my heart rate is still up, I am forced to be able to balance myself, and when you're not holding onto something, you're actually engaging your "core muscles" more.

| Elizellen - I absolutely LOVE the quotes you shared!!! So true. Exercise not only helps you lose weight, but it is also key to total health. Alot of people think you have to spend hours in the gym, but just walking 20 minutes a day can make a huge difference.
