| If you want to add food you should do it using the OWL ladder. Starting with 5 carbs more of veggies. Induction is supposed to be induction.

| So, Extended Induction is the same EXACT thing as Induction?, just staying on it for a longer period of time? |

| That is the idea yes. For adding in stuff Atkins made a system (On-going Weight Loss - or OWL) and you add things back in order but if you extend induction you stick to ONLY the allowed foods on the induction list.

| I've been on extended induction for six months and feel the same way. I have limitless energy. More importantly, I'm not tempted by carbs in the least. I look at ice cream in my freezer as if it were a book or other non eatable object! Although my weight loss is approximately 3 lbs or less a week, I'm shedding inches of body fat. We're talking Biggest Looser results! I've gone from a 51 inch waist down to a 38 in five short months. I haven't encountered any real problems with boredom on the diet. I feel like I'm cheating every day; cheese, steak, omlets mmmmm. |

| Though staying on induction levels of carbs is possible for a long time don't forget that Dr Atkins expected us to have gone through the OWL process of experimenting and finding how many carbs we can eat and still lose as well as discovering if any foods affect us adversely by the time we have between 5 and 10 pounds left to lose when we should move to the third phase (premaintenance). Doing OWL is much easier if you are still losing weight at a rate of a few pounds a week, as once you are losing maybe only one pound a week (as most of us find when we approach our goal weight) it is hard to tell if your losses are slowing or stopping when you add more carbs or if your body is reacting adversely to a different food so you will have to rely on looking for blood sugar symptoms instead.
