If you go by definition, milk proteins should be protein only, hence "legal" for Induction. However, it's difficult to say what hides behind iffy ingredients appearing on the label (take the example of whey protein, which has some lactose in it and is only allowed in OWL Rung 2), as labeling laws are usually not super strict. Personally I just save myself a headache and don't buy anything that contains "fishy" ingredients.

| Thanks for the info. Alas I've gobbled them all down! but I'll stay away from them from now on. It's only whilst being on this diet that I've paid so much attention to food ingredients, you never know what you're eating these days. My quest for induction legal sausages continues... |

| I've found it very difficult to find any sausages that are completely legal. There is a butcher near here (ok - not that close, really), who makes many kinds, and claims that only the farmer's sausage and bacon have sugar in them. I'm leary, because there are basically NO labels on his products...(not sure how he gets away with that?). If you can find a butcher that you trust...they might make sausages with less processed *crap* than the factory-made stuff you find at the supermarket.

| My OH tried our local butchers and health stores with no luck. To be honest he's a useless shopper lol but seeing as I don't go out to the shops what can I do? I'm looking into making my own sausages. Not quite sure where to begin. Man I miss a sausage. I did find some German sausages that were perfectly legal but the calories in two are nearly 600 so hardly buy them. I'm aware we're not meant to be counting calories but if you include bacon and eggs etc that's well over 1000 calories for breakfast. |

| Sausages are tricky ![]() I have made my own using ground pork or other meat, so I can know exactly what is in them. I found an unopened sausage making kit in my Charity shop excursions with a stuffer gadget and some skins which got me started, but you can buy the skins online and many food mincers come with a sausage stuffing attachment. Here are a couple of websites with info etc Weschenfelder Sausage Making - Weschenfelders Sausage Making Sausagemaking.co.uk If you don't have a meat mincer tucked in a cupboard you might find a local butcher who is willing to grind you some meat for sausage making too.
