Default Encouragement for all of us on the Extended

Hello ADBB! I just wanted to post a thread to give everyone new like I was three weeks ago a bit of ENCOURAGEMENT! I started Atkins on 6/8/09 and as of 6/22/09 I have lost a solid 28lbs and my waist has gone from a 48" to 46". I have followed the induction with a slight variation and the weight is flying off. As of now, I have changed my morning eating habits but i am still pretty much doing the same thing daily. For the 1st three weeks my breakfast was ,4 slices of turkey bacon and 4 boiled egg whites, mid day snack was, a couple of hands of almonds;lunch was steamed veggies and a couple peices of baked fish or chicken; afternoon snack was 2 slices of mild chedder cheese; and dinner was 2 peices of baked chicken or fish and some veggies. My body felt full of energy and did not even want the other(fatty foods). Now I eat all fruits before lunch, the same lunch from the induction stage, almonds for the afternoon snack, and the same dinner from the induction stage. i feel great. Eating like this is helping my body natually get the weight it should be and I will workout and get in shape to do the rest. I just wanted to offer a bit of help to someone who may need need it to let you know that this does work.

ummm wheres the fat? It sounds like lowfat atkins and that is NOT how atkins is meant to be done. Yes, you lost weight but thats just NOT atkins and as far as I know is dangerous for your body.

Not all the fat is needed when you eat natural foods(alot of fruits and veggies and nuts-of course eaten at the correct time of day) that were prescribed in the Bible. For those having a hard time sticking with a straight induction or extended, this is a healthy option for us.

Im sure almonds and all foods are not allowed in extended induction and your not having fats this is surely not Atkins at all but if its working for you good for you but your thread title is misleading.

Atkins wanted us to eat high fat as he felt fats were very healthy to eat (and I agree) while proteins and carbs may both be converted to glucose and the body will store the excess glucose as fat.

Bigsixfooter - you are probably losing weight because you are eating a lot healthier now than you were before... for that congratulations and I hope it continues to work out for you...

However, lumping other extended induction Atkineers into the 'US' phrase (encouragement for all of us) when some of US are doing extended induction and in fact you aren't doing Atkins extended induction at all, can be confusing to those who are trying to do Atkins the best they can...

The fact that you are eating fruit and nuts which are allowed on the higher OWL rungs puts you right into OWL and when you figure out which rung you are on, (based upon what type of fruit you are eating) then you can encourage the rest of US owlers

Good for you for loosing weight -- but please don't say you are doing induction because truthfully you are not. Many new people may read your post and think it's ok for them to eat this way also, then when they don't loose those of us who have been here and help the new people will have to tell them why they are wrong and that they need to change their ways.

Men loose faster and usually more weight than women do so by changing your diet habits in the past few weeks this is probably more the reason why you lost weight - more than the fact that you were "doing induction".

Continued good luck - hopefully you will get on program the correct way and we'll be commending you for your next loss.
