| You might need to eat more food (doesn't that sound odd advice to someone in the process of losing weight?

| As a big fan of Atkins + exercise, I know what you mean by explosive weight loss. However, while it does indeed ramp up your metabolism, maintain muscle mass and increase your weight loss, there can be such a thing as too much exercise. If you're feeling drained, take a day off. Sure, the weight loss will decelerate, but your body needs time to recuperate. Also, you may find that you will need magnesium, potassium and maybe calcium supplements if you start to cramp. |

| Wow -- that is great but well a lot Maybe you should also think about making your exercise more effective - mixing things up. Are you mainly doing the cycling? Try several different things to challenge the muscles in different ways as well.

| Well, here's what I'm doing: Weights for an hour 3x week. Then an hour of "real" hour of aerobics on either Elliptical or treadmill (switch every day). Then 1 or 2 hours of TV-watching my favorite Food Network shows while putting the treadmill on a light walk (2.5, no elevation) My gym rocks, there's nobody EVER there. It's like being in my living room. I could probably just go in my jammies. Guess I'll tweak my supplements or something, cause I'm like grunting in pain when I go to bed.

| When I was on OWL and eating 35 net carbs daily, I hit a period where wasn't gaining or losing pounds or inches. I upped my exercise, it did nothing. I upped my fat, lowered my fat, upped my calories, lowered my calories, lowered my carbs---nothing. Then I re-read the book and saw that "regular exercisers" had CCLLs greater than 60. I fit Dr. Atkin's definition of a "regular exerciser", so I increased my carbs and BINGO!, I started losing weight (pounds and inches) again. When all was said and done, my CCLL increased from 35 to 50 net carbs daily.

I do cardio on the big Precor elliptical at my gym, keeping my heart rate within doctor-prescribed target range (135-140), for one hour a day six days a week. I do two lower body and two upper body weight workouts a week. I started this two weeks ago because weight loss had stalled and I figured my little cardio rider machine was not enough exercise for me anymore. Do you think this applies to me? Kinda' scary thinking of bringing up my carbs that much. ![]() |
