Default Salt Retention???

:wave Hi I'm in need of some :help !! It seems like the smallest bit of salt I eat I'm retaining water, my feet are swelling up and I'm drinking plenty of water. Has anyone dealt with this?? I don't see salt retention anywhere in DANDR. I've never been like this before.

SALT is a huge problem for some folks. So sorry you are experiencing this. I would suggest you use the Morton Lite Salt .. which has alot less sodium and yet tastes very much the same as salt. Plus its a great source of potassium which is very important. My husband is a salt-a-holic and even he can't tell the difference between Morton Lite and the regular stuff!!

Hope that helps!

Betty

Nikki,
Sometimes swelling of the feet is not related to salt intake. I would keep an eye on it and if you still swell without salt I would see your Dr.

Hopefully, its not something more serious...usually water retention would be combined with some other symptom like excessive thirst that might indicate another problem.
You could be rather salt sensitive, especially if you don't normally eat a lot of salt. I had that probablem when I started Atkins b/c I normally don't put salt on anything---I just don't like the taste of salty stuff...not even on french fries when I ate them. Anyway a lot of hidden salt goes into foods, especially meats which you may be eating more of than you used to.
I was shocked at just how much sodium is in a lot of things like sausages, pepperoni, even some drinks that are otherwise no sugar and no salt. Its incredible...and frozen foods...tons of salt. I recently realized the canned mushrooms I was buying were laoded with salt and switched to a no-salt brand.
I'm perfectly healthy but if I eat something very salty I will bloat up immediately no matter how much water I drink. It's rather annoying as its usually after eating someting at a restaurant or that someone else prepared.

Yep thats it! I am sensitive to salt, and I never cared for extra salt on my food, even as a kid it messed with me somewhat. I will definitely get me some Morton Lite Salt and also cut back 1/2 in the meantime and see how that works. It seems if I just think about salt, my feet twitch Thanks yall.
