| The book says after the first 14 days you can add nuts.....at 1 ounce, not a 'handful'. If you choose to use nuts, buy a food scale and weigh them out. My 'handful' is not 1 ounce. Also, nuts vary in size so 14 'large' almonds might be 1 ounce, just like 28 'small' almonds can be 1 ounce. Furthermore, if the addition of the nuts causes blood sugar instability, weight loss issues, or problems with portion control. Drop them from your diet. In fact, I would go as far as to recommend you adding them into your diet following the OWL Rules for adding foods: 1 portion of the same nuts three times a week for one week. If no bad effects on your body, then the same nuts everyday for the next week. If there is an negative effect, drop them. You can test for blood sugar instability, easier and more readily, by taking the Blood Sugar Symptom Test in Chapter 13 of DANDR2002.
