Default Atkins Bars? Yes or No?

Hi all.

So I've been on Phase 1 for about a month. I know it's supposed to be 14 days but I read on the Atkins website and in his book that if you have a lot of weight to take off...that you can stay on the plan longer.

I'm doing it healthy though. Water...working out..vitamins...veggies...

I've been dropping the lbs pretty good...now it's not coming off and I don't know why and it's frustrating.

Could it be the Atkins bars?? I've been having 1 a day for the past week and the weight stopped coming off...I was on Atkins a few years ago...and back then...the bars were a no-no...

So is this my problem??

Thanks!!

Sorry, but while the "New Atkins" or whatever is on that site allows the bars (because they sell them...) they are not allowed for induction on traditional Atkins, no matter what they say. We use the 2002 version on this site

Anyway, drop the bars and the pounds will probably start budging again in a few days. Congrats on your loss!

Around here the bars are still no no At least when you are in induction.
The webpage you may be referring to is run by the company that makes the bars and they love to promote them to all levels and all the time. I bet they'd love it if that is all we ate
But yeah we find that it is not always easy to lose with them.
Ok for emergencies maybe.
I hope you start losing again. We do usually see a break sometime and just have to work our way through it.

I thought the bars were still a bad idea...and was staying away from them....until I just "needed" something sweet. I read the back of the label on the bar and it said it could be used with all phases of the Atkins Diet and I believe I pulled the info up on the official Atkins website that said the bars were okay....but I will definately stop eating them.

I'm not following the new Atkins. I have the older books and am still following it the way I did a few years back...I've added a little more veggies though since last time. I remember back then I stayed far away from the bars even though they said we could eat them. I knew the bars were a bad idea. I will definately stop eating them...so the weight can melt away again. LOL.

Yep. The site that wants you to buy them is going to tell you they're okay....but...if you read the ingredients and the rules of induction, it's very clear they're a no-no.

They're notorious for stalling people and, well, low carb junk food is still junk food!!

Continued success!

Yeah. You look great in your pics, btw!! Those kind of pics motivate me to continue on the diet. I just joined on here so I didn't see the little note under this section that everyone follows the 2002 DANDR version. I will have to pick that book up and use that. I thought he only added more veggies....but maybe he added more things??

Depends on what older version you are using - there is the 72 version and then the 92 version. More veggies from the start was one of the things added. Some things were taken off. A few adjustments like that. We count net carbs in the new version (versus just carbs in the old ones) and the new one talks about the glycemic index and introduced the OWL ladder.

Everyone keeps saying to use the 2002 version. Yeah to be honest when I start counting the net carbs my weight loss slows down a bunch. I like to just count the carbs the old way..LOL..I did this plan in the 90s and it worked really well.
